Re: Cupcake decorating sets?
What's a cupcake decorating set? As in the stuff where you buy ready-made icing in one of those squirty tubes?
Re: Cupcake decorating sets?
I'd say that a cupcake decorating kit involves a bowl, a wooden spoon and a teaspoon :D
But then I haven't made the fancy american-style ones with loads of squirty icing yet. Do you mean an icing gun for piping the icing on?
Re: Cupcake decorating sets?
I think what Smoothie means is a piping bag and lots of nozzles. I got a really cheapo version in the supermarket that only cost me a few Euros. Have you had a look in your local supermarket?
Re: Cupcake decorating sets?
There are some icing sets here including bags with "larger nozzles for piping meringue and potato", which I'm guess ing should work. this page on the Jane Asher website (which has TONS of cake making stuff in general) lists a few different icing options as well.
Basically, I put "cake decorating" into Google and got a lot of results... :)
ETA - oh, but you weren't asking for where to get them were you, you was asking for experiences with.. Sorry, can't help you - nowhere round here sells the kits and I haven't wanted to buy something without seeing it unless there is no other option.
Re: Cupcake decorating sets?
I bought a kit from Tesco's this evening for less than two quid - it's a reusable bag and four nozzles, but haven't tried it yet... :)
