Have you joined Vegan Edinburgh + Glasgow yet? We've got a few people from Aberdeen in the group who should be able to answer your questions. Oh, and Heavenly is now closed in Glasgow :( ...
There is a group in York, but events haven't been well attended recently. I think Anna, the organiser, is looking for a bit of help. (Sorry if Anna is on here, I'm only in contact with her via...
Oh heh I thought you might be! This forum used to be very active a few years back, but I think everyone's just moved on to Facebook now.
Hi Susieannah, are you a member of our Facebook group, Vegan Edinburgh + Glasgow? We have nearly 230 members, and we chat every day about everything really.
...
Yeah I walked over there before Vegfest earlier in the year but it was closed. Thousands of vegans in town and they were closed. Bad move!
Does Brighton have an exclusively vegan restaurant (apart from Loving Hut) that's open all year round now? I've travelled as a vegan to pretty much all of the major cities in the UK, and Glasgow is...
Oooh yeah, I managed to grab a giant plate of 'fish', chips and mushy peas at the West Mids Festival this year.

You. Me. Glasgow.
Let's see who survives.
CHEATING?! You were one behind me! You mean the day after? Well yes I admit to feeling just a little rough :(
Ha ha, I can't refuse a drinking competition with Frank. He won (by a small margin), but I demand a re-match!
Heh that was a good weekend :D
Might try Kalpna tomorrow. I have yet to get round to sampling their legendary vegan thali :)
Ooooh yes I'm a Wagamama regular. The saien udon noodles are fantastic, with those wee fried tofu parcels floating in the top. Yum.
Cool, I love this sort of thing. The Glasgow Vegan Meetup has had (fairly) regular outdoor picnics this summer and they've been fab.
Yes, and the Ulster Fry and Eton Mess. Hmmmmmm
Yeah I suppose they would do that if I asked nicely. Or I could just stop being so bloody lazy. I love shopping in new Asian supermarkets. I always find something I've never seen before.
^ I've been doing that, but just wondered if there was a (lazy) online way that I could bulk buy
Yeah it would be fantastic if there was just one online store where I could get everything, instead of ordering from lots of different places.
Here's the new M&S list. I've already found one mistake - the oatcakes contain milk, so continue to double check everything.

That's a shame, but interesting nonetheless. Carrots are curious things. I yearn for the bitter, fresh carrots my dad used to grow in the garden. I'm not terribly keen on the sweetness of carrots...
Yeah, as the article implies, carrots were originally purple. They've only become orange through artificial selection to satisfy a Western aesthetic.
Flora spread in the UK used to do that but then they remembered there are a fair number of folk who wouldn't buy it because it's not halal. Never mind the vegans. But, a small win nevertheless.
You and Yours on Radio 4 (4/8/10) discussed superfoods and the jargon used to sell them. It should still be on iplayer if anyone's interested.
Agreed. Starbucks are getting quite good at this vegan lark. They have loads of snacks, such as hummus with carrots and celery too.
I've heard different things from different sources regarding Kopparberg. Since Barnivore reckons it's not vegan, I've been keeping clear of it.
Stone's Alcoholic Ginger Beer is vegan, but it's an...
^ I know. I'm jesting, my good man :D
Here's the latest Sainsbury's vegan list. For those with excellent eyesight or a good magnifying glass.

Just a reminder for all people in the Central Scotland area who haven't found us yet - the Glasgow Vegan Meetup Group usually has a meetup every few weeks or so. Dinners, lunches, leafleting,...
You should get a reply shortly. I've notified someone who knows the place well that you're looking for information :D
Wow, thanks. It's probably a fairly similar recipe they use in the restaurant. I'll be making that for my next potluck I think.
@ Kimberlily Yeah that's so cool! My mum and my boyfriend both prefer the tofu cheesecake. I don't think it's as heavy as the dairy version.
@ Jivattatva Unfortunately I have tried over the years...

Tofu cheesecake with summer berries from Mono in Glasgow. Yeaaahh!
Cool. I'm "following" you :D
Hmm...there has been some discussion about flax seeds and easy bruising recently in a few well-respected vegan nutrition blogs. http://jacknorrisrd.com/?p=1084
The Guardian message boards are the one thing that makes my life worth living :D
Ha ha, you've obviously never been to Glasgow. I've seen parents shake a big bottle of Coke to flatten it and decant it into a bottle for the kid in the pram, who looked about a year old max. Bad...
I don't usually find it amazingly difficult to get something to eat in Ikea. It's not the sort of place I'd go to expecting to have a vegan three course meal, but ask kiki mentioned, if you ask they...
