    Re: Sainsburys

Ah. I was thinking they would be a "meat-style" burger. Thanks for telling me so quickly as I was planning to cycle over to Sainbury's in Belgrave. We've been on a bit of a "cheeseburger" kick...

    Have you seen this?

Tinned kidney beans are already cooked, and therefore OK aren't they? It's just that my dinner was mashed red...

    Re: Sainsburys

Very interesting, I'll give them a go. Maybe I can get a needle and inject soy sauce into them or something. More seriously, they might be a suitable base for marinades.

    We've been eating...

    Re: Sainsburys

It is undeniable that the shortbread cookies fell to pieces if you as much as looked at them. So unlike some times when products became non-vegan for no apparent reason, at least this time the excuse...

    Re: Sainsburys

Sorry I haven't got time to check if this has been posted before, but some of Sainsbury's "be good to yourself" soups are vegan. I've eaten a number of tins of the spiced tomato and lentil soup....

    Re: Sainsburys

Just tonight I found out that the co-op "bakery" (or whatever they call it) puff pastry mince pies are marked "suitable for vegetarians and vegans". However, the "may contain traces of" list is one...

    Re: Sainsburys

Yes, they're doing them. And yes, they're still vegan.

    Re: Sainsburys

I haven't managed to get to one of the larger Sainsbury's yet, but dropped into the one in the centre of town. They had "real" Frazzles, and a sainbury's crispy bacon snack. Both had milk in the...

    Re: Sainsburys

One of my favourite items from Sainsburys was their vegetarian chili which used to be marked vegan. It disappeared for a long while, but has recently reappeared. It looks similar, but is now labelled...

    Re: Sainsburys

What are Sainsbury's doing with their labelling. It seems that some products are not only losing their "vegan" labelling, but their "vegetarian" labelling as well. The chocolate mint thins were...

    Re: Sainsburys

Spring rolls are easy to make. As long as you are prepared to accept the spring roll pastry at Asian supply shops (ingredients: wheat flour and water, marked suitable for vegetarians) as vegan.

    Re: Sainsburys

I can't make soft bread/buns, anything I cook has a hard crust. Any pointers?

    Re: Sainsburys

I bought some co-op ones today. I thought that surely they still wouldn't be mis-labelled by now. But then when we decided to check and phoned up the freephone number, they're still not vegan....
