    Re: Vegan London, part I

The only thing about Mildred's is that it's not 100% vegan, but maybe they would do a vegan menu for the party if Rebecca asks nicely.

Oh :( I haven't been with a big group and can see that the ordering-in-advance thing would be a downer.

Mildreds sounds like the best bet so far then, unless Manna and the Gate would do a special...

    Re: Vegan London, part I

I may be wrong but I think it would be hard to get out of the Gate or Manna without spending more than £30/head unfortunately.

Wouldn't 222 be a cheaper option? I know it's not in South or Central...

Yeah, I've been to Blah Blah Blah a few times though not recently. I quite like it but there used to be one or two gripes, like no/hardly any vegan desserts, and they once tried to refuse to bring...

I like Tas for middle eastern (Turkish) food though of course it's omnivorous. Not sure if they do babaganoush as such there; is it more of a Lebanese thing? Not sure what the best Lebanese places...

Those are good tips, Marrers. I was so upset when Country Life disappeared - excellent to hear that it's been sort of reincarnated (though Country Life was cheap and 100% vegan IIRC, grouse :D ).

Thanks, Marrers. Will try and get up there in the day time when there's room for my zimmer frame, and will definitely eschew the soggy veg in favour of Cake.

Yes, 222 would be nice, Stu, but it's a bit far because we need somewhere to dash into late evening after a concert. It ideally needs to be within about 500 yards of the station really.

I think VitaOrganic do both raw food and cooked-but-not-raised-above-a-certain-temperature food. It's certainly possible to have a completely raw meal (i.e. salady stuff) there if you want to.

It seems to be quite hard to make the cake part of a vegan cake moist, if it's a sponge-type cake? Hence the icing:cake ratio can be critical :D

ISTR having a nice one in the cafe in Foyle's once.

Must try the Beatroot ones - think I've only ever had salad in there.

Cakes aren't one of my main vices but if I do have one I like it to be unctuous. They often do seem a bit dry unfortunately.
