In my opinion nothing was either designed or 'meant' to do anything, otherwise we would all have a purpose and an overall goal - I suppose this constitutes a religious comment but thats the fault of...

I don't think that's true, I could be wrong, but I think it's only because it's not eaten 'fresh' that it needs to be cooked.
