I like "Vegan on the Cheap" and another one that name is lost to me now, but it's got Eastern dishes - Indian, Thai, etc...
I have colitis, a painful inflammation of the colon, which results in a lot of abdominal pain, stomach upset, heartburn, etc. My symptoms are marked improved since I went vegan. Now, I just need to...
I using the book, Eat to Live, for weight reduction while being vegan. The recommendations are that you eat plenty of fresh fruit, veg, and legumes, but limit your starch portions to once a day.
I find that the book "Vegan on the Cheap" was a great addition to my cookbook collection, both for the recipes and the excellent tips on how to eat deliciously, but cheaply. I got it second hand on...
No, but I've frequently dreamed of liberating cows I see in trucks on the freeway here in Texas!
B: Bean burrito with pico de gallo (bit of a habit)
L: Sauted mushrooms, squash, & courgette added to chili & brown rice
D: Not sure yet...I love this thread for getting meal ideas!
You can find "Peaceable Kingdom" on YouTube with Spanish subtitles. Believe me, I understand. It took my husband years to come around to going vegan. He's Spanish and Dutch, so culturally big on meat...
I should find a copy of the "I am vegan" sheet to give my daughters' school and daycare. It might help with the transition. We've been of the "vegan at home, vegetarian outside" school, but I am keen...
When overhearing a conversation of someone asking me why I didn't eat meat, my 5-year old replied, "Yuck! It's dead. Why would you want to eat it?". The look on the person's face was priceless. LOL
Breakfast was a bean & potato burrito with fresh pico de gallo. Yum!
Lunch will be a whole wheat pita, peanut butter, and a banana - should have been breakfast, but I forgot my lumch. Eating in my...
I think it was pure ignorance. I wish I'd done it years ago!
I voted in the poll. I wish they'd ban leather, too. If only every designer were as cool as Stella McCartney!
I read The China Study and went from there onto other web sites, etc. The funny thing is I was vegetarian for 16 years, got gluten intolerance, and was told by my doctor to go back to eating meat....
No, lately I only dream that people are trying to get me to eat it again. Nightmare!
OMG...I want to work there! The only things vegan in my work break room are free fruit (usually 3 kinds) and peanuts you can buy in the vending machine. That's it.
The China Study is one of the books that got me interested in going vegan. Another good one to show omnis the nutritional side is Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis. I bought it when I decided to...

If it's the one sponsored by a magazine, I think I know it. Tried it a few times, but no one every replied. There seems to be a small group who only reply to each other.
I agree with getting a pressure cooker! I love mine. Make a big batch of stew, soup, or curry every Sunday and then take them for lunches or heat them up for a quick dinner during the week. Not...

I think it really depends on the type of diet that you eat. If you eat too many calories and don't burn them off, you'll never lose weight just by becoming a vegan.
Yesterday's menu included:
Fruit - banana, navel orange, apple
Earl Grey tea
Big green salad with cucumbers, carrots, celery, tomatoes, onions, black olives, and garbanzo beans
Leftover spag ...
I tend to microwave them at work, because there is no kettle. It's the best when they are 99 cents! I end up buying 10 at a time when they are that cheap and stashing them in my desk. I find the...
Hi Jippia,
I lived in Utrecht. To be honest, I did not eat out a lot apart from places that I knew were safe for me as a Celiac. That is why I waited to go vegan until I moved back to the US.
...
I had the vegan hot dogs from Tofutti yesterday for the first time. I'm going to have to experiment with different brands until I find one I really like. These drove me nuts, because it was hard to...

All of Dr McDougall's soups are vegan! They are delish. I've had a few of them, as they are available in my local health food store, but I've never seen so...
The good news is that you'd be helping animals that are rescued. The bad news is that you will likely be feeding them meat. I can relate to how you feel, because I've worked for a pharma company for...
Yesterday was home made drop biscuits and fruit, avocado & tomato sandwich, bean tameles for dinner and a handful of nuts for dessert
I just watched Earthlings this week for the first time. I went through the gauntlet of emotions watching it - rage, disgust, sadness, disbelief, you name it...and relief to have gone vegan. I just...

I use banana and apple sauce as egg replacements.
I lived in the Neds for 8 years. I am Celiac, so gluten is out of the question for me, and I honestly waited to go 100% vegan until I moved to the US recently, because it was just impossible for me...
I was there years ago and there was a Chicago style restaurant for pizza and such. Maybe they would make you something tailor made if it's still there?
I've only been over the border in Canada years ago for beer runs :o, but I'd love to go for a nice, long holiday! I have friend in Toronto, Edmonton, and Prince Edward Island. I'd love to do a...
