    Re: Sainsbury's

It is. Sorry the link didn't work. The best thing about this spread is it goes hard in the fridge and then you can dig out clumps with a teaspoon and eat them like truffles :D

    Re: Sainsbury's

Found this hazelnut-chocolate spread while looking for something else. Seems only Sainsbury's sell it at the moment out of the big supermarkets. Quite nice stuff, my mum said she preferred it to...

It's marked vegetarian and vegan, so hopefully I'm safe!

    Re: Sainsbury's

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the Spanish organic olive oil is about the cheapest olive oil I've seen in Sainsbury's, at 35p per 100ml as opposed to about 38p for the non organic....

    Re: Sainsburys

Very unlikely, as they are basically mashed potato with a few other veg and a breadcrumb coating. I think if you marinaded them they'd probably fall apart! :D

    Re: Sainsburys

Crumpets are generally made with a thinned down bread dough (at least, that's how I've made them), so there's no reason they wouldn't be vegan unless companies try to luxuryfy them by adding butter....

Belgrave. If you go, check out the eggless curry mayo by Cofresh opposite the chilled juice fridges too (if you don't already know about it, or it's not sold out like it was when I went last time).

    Re: Sainsburys

I was in Sainsbury's today, stocking up on massively cheap plonk to make mulled wine out of (one of the plastic bottles 1.5l French red, for just over a fiver... and one of their 'basics' whites is...

    Re: Sainsburys

If the lentils from Turkey were red lentils you shouldn't have to soak them at all - red lentils is red lentils wherever they are from as far as I know. You really shouldn't have to soak any lentils...

    Re: Sainsburys

I think it's just inconsistent labelling. A lot of their basics stuff is marked vegan where their normal version isn't, particularly things like pot noodles.

    Re: Sainsburys

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, Enchantress.

I didn't actually notice those being marked "dairy free" as such, just that they were dark chocolate and there was nothing saying they did contain...

    Re: Sainsburys

Went to a big Sainsbury's in my friend's car half an hour before their closing time and got bargain flowers!

Big bunch of 3 different colours of tulips, was 6.99, reduced to 39p, gorgeous...

    Re: Sainsburys

Phoned up to see if the Sainbury's Basics potato waffles were vegan. I was initially told that they weren't because they had milk in them, which seemed weird because there was no mention of anything...

    Re: Sainsburys labelling?

They're like half size french sticks, with garlic margarine in the middle. They're okay for an emergency, but there's a lot of fat in them (I mean, more than I'd put in if I was making them myself). ...

    Re: Sainsburys labelling?

To be honest, I'm not sure I believed her - why would a strudel contain "whole milk"? it sounded like she'd asked someone, who'd asked someone else and then the answer had come back to her along the...

    Re: Sainsburys labelling?

Right. I have just spoken to "Kerry" on Sainsbury's 0800 Careline number - she claims that the reason the new packaged strudels aren't labelled vegan is that they now contain "whole milk" - I told...

    Re: Sainsburys labelling?

I actually stood in the shop and did a minute comparison of the old and new ingredients. I think there were a couple of minor differences in the ingredients, but nothing that I would have thought...
