I had to go without a fridge for a month when we were between housemates...it was horrible, no ice-cream, we couldn't keep leftovers, no cold drinks and ice blocks (it was summer) and any recipes...
Good advice none the less! I hope the staff will understand the translation of vegan in the vegan passport book! Unfortunately when backpacking around eating out can't be avoided. Did you find any...
Hi
I'm off to thailand for two weeks, I've been there before but only as a vegetarian. I have my 'vean passport' ready but was wondering if anyone had any advice/experiences that would be a useful...
As there are regular vegan cookbooks out there that a lot of us own, I thought we could note down any recipes we tried. This is ispired by the fact that I made the best lasagne last night!! I made...

Do any melbournites know where to get chocolate Leda bars???
They have them in Geelong hospital but I have not seen them anywhere else!

I have this cookbook and I really like it. Must try the upside down pudding cake...yummo
Easy Vegan cooking is good, though it is very obviously not intended for australians. She's got some great recipes in their but also a few duds.
I baked a cake from this for my (vegan) sisters birthday. It was fantastic, I cannot believe how inivative it is with the ingredients and I can't wait to bake more cakes from this cookbook. (By the...

Has anyone spotted this brand in Victoria???!!!
From the 'scientific' perspective, they could have figured this one out if they'd read any of palentologists Stephen Jay Gould's books
yay!! I will be there to spend my small fortune on vegan goodness and charity!
Sometimes it helps the meat-eaters around you except that you are 'ok'. When they ask if you are getting all the B12, iron etc, that you need you can reply, 'well my last blood test was fine.'
Rainbow Silence Heart

It's vegetarian, run by Sri Chrimnoy followers. But the food is very homestyle and the place is very clean and the people who run it...
last year two of my housemates, one meat-eating and the other semi-vegetarian both had B12 problems, as did my vegan friend. I had a blood test and was fine.
Well at least they don't have wool jumpers anymore :)
It's the one non-vegan thing I still own.
 I found this also. Going to the supermarket became a whole new adventure. Food became like a whole new discovery, it was as if it hadn't existed before!!
I like melbourne weather!
Don't mind the drizzle...
...but then the cravings start for unhealthy vegan food...mm..chocolate milk is a real killer...
Hi, recently I went to the AAHR talk on Animal testing as a bad science.
It was extremely helpful in good arguments to come upon for arguing against animal testing.
Did anyone else go and what...
Has anyone ever tried giving a pamplet to a morman or jehovahs when they are doorknocking and trying to sell you the watchtower?
Maybe even someone trying to sell you something or make you donate...
Fantastic link thanks!! :D
I'm fussy with beer and spirits, but not so fussy with wine. This is an economic problem, $4 wine from clearskins vs $40 organic wine. And its very difficult to know for sure. Luckily though since...
Well our weather can be a bit dramatic :)
This I would also like to know, my supermarket has recently stopped selling tofutti cheese slices :(
I will have to save money to stock up on chreese but cheese from vic markt? This could be good...

I know I have some of the withdrawal symptoms if I don't get my fix in the mornings
Well...the limit (warning on label) for energy drinks is two per day, they claim to have the same amount of caffeine as coffee. So is it the caffeine or the other stuff that makes coffee bad?
I eat almonds every day, just to be sure ;)
Definitely more self-assured (I guess meaties might see it as self-righteousness). I believe in myself now and I know myself. Before I hadn't figured out who I was and what I stood for and was very...
I love pizza
Plush on Burwood road is great and
Pizza Piazza on Chapel Street are fantastic
I know someone who has a salt deficiency, she gets faint, has been told by doc to drink sports drinks. There is also the recent debate about western countries having iodine deficiencies. This can...
The spider and mice fear I don't understand...maybe because I grew up in the bush. Southern aussie animals don't really scare me but I think if I went overseas big furry mammals might...and probably...
;) Are you studying psych?
I really like this idea... I think will be a good hobby to take up.
It's lots easier to be vegan than I ever thought it would be! Going veg was easier simply because I didn't like meat but being vegan is easy too.
