I'm sorry for missing your question Karen.
I haven't been around here for a while.
So, as official Icelander of the forum, I'll keep an eye on this thread in the future. If anyone has any travel...
It looks like I'm a little late to the party here, but here is my opinion on faux meats and suchlike:
The aesthetics of food matter to me. Many traditionally meaty meals are ingenious and classic...
Ditto that.
I can barely imagine a better fate for myself than to be mistaken for a Halloween decoration in my death.
I'd like to use this opportunity to thank Matt publicly for being an outstanding guest here in my little corner of the world. He didn't brutally maim and kill me or anything.
He also did a good job...
When I decided to take the plunge to veganism, I had previously been adjusting to a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet - I was what they call a 'pescetarian'. Upon finding information about the milk and egg...
I went vegan as a result of finding information about the milk industry online - I was already pescetarian (and getting ready to phase into vegetarian), so I decided to just transition into vegan...
I'm from Iceland, which 'technically' isn't Scandinavian, but I'm butting in anyway. :D
Hello, Scandinavians :0
All right, sounds great!
You will be the fourth vegan I've met, if I'm right. The other three I met just about a week ago.
Much fun!
Hey Matt!
I live on the west side of Reykjavík city, close to the national library. Here's a link that should work for you, similar to Google Earth:...
Karmalife: Awesome!
I'll be right there.
Okay. First, I'm going to get everyone here to invite me over for food.
Then, in return, I shall make pancakes:

Right. I read a bit into this thread, but I don't have time to read the whole thing. I did, however, search through it to see if this point has been brought up yet, and it seems not:
"Natural" and...
If they can not prove it, they should not attempt to get others to do it as well.
Also - proving the existence of spirits would grant them immortal fame, as this is a feat not ever accomplished...
^ This.
Nutrition is available in vegan food. This is a scientific fact. It is not comparable to using air for sustenance.
Ah, already you stumble upon the intricacies of our language!
There is in fact a slight difference. "Þ" is as you think (in fact, the letter is called thorn), but "ð" is softer. Like the "th" in...
Great minds think alike, huh? ;)
(or was that 'fools seldom differ'? I mix those up)
By not getting it, you actually get it. See, we have no need for these cards. It's those control-freaks up higher on the ladder who want more ways to keep their underlings on leashes.
As Iceland got hit pretty hard by the credit crunch, it may be affordable to visit here these days. Our currency's value got cut in half months ago, so tourists may have an easier time.

I for one, welcome our ID card regulating overlords.
On a more serious note, the idea fills me with repulsion, just the same as any other moves that propel a nation into an Orwellian state - such...
I prefer mineralarianism. ;)
That is fantastic! Great article. I sometimes use lemon juice when I clean my hair, as I don't use shampoo or hair conditioning. Actually, that could be material for a new post, if there isn't one up...
I usually respond, perfectly calm, in this manner:
"Well, I don't feel there's a reason to defend my beliefs."
or
"I'm happy with my decisions."
Similar answers have probably popped up in...
Oh yes, yum yum. Lovely stuff. Especially raw. *licks lips*
Well, time to resurrect this ole' monster. That guy up there, with the bad spelling and the funky avatar, that's me.
So, since the Icelandic vegetarian society (and their entire website) seem to...
I don't know what it's like in other parts of the world, but in Iceland, we have special pancake (crepe) pans. They're specially made for pancakes, and one should never use them for anything else.
...
I'll try something like that once I obtain a juicer. *grins*
Thanks for the advice!
My first try at this:
Two bananas
An apple
Celery
Water
and a little bit of ginger
It turned out a yellowish brown color, and a little too thick. Otherwise, the taste was pretty good, but...
Everyone eats such good food here, I feel jealous.
I ate some breakfast cereal with soy milk, two bagels with vegan cream cheese, water, and some cranberry juice.
I aggree with Kim[ba]. They're obviously quite intimidated. Hah!
I ate dinner a few hours ago, 'twas home made lasagna. mmm. it had big flat white beans, lots of other vegs, and it was just generally really yum.
