I hope the weather improves for your visit. It's been blowing a gale down here for the past few days.
The articles on the pros and cons of soya are very informative, there's a good piece on the campaign against greyhound racing and a lovely tribute to vegan pioneer Serena Coles.
Their lemon and corriander houmous is very good.
San Amvrosia houmous is my favourite. It's really smooth and creamy. I'm too lazy to make my own!

I've tried it and It's pretty good.
I spoke to Freidenstern Howard at the London vegan festival too. A gentle, compassionate man who did so much good work for so long. My condolences to his family and friends.
Thanks Marrers :)
Have you been to Terre a Terre recently? What are the vegan options like at the moment? The last time I went there weren't a great many vegan dishes available. I'm going to Brighton for a birthday...
Factory farms in Asia blamed for pandemic:
The insatiable demand for cheap food, the global poultry industry and the giant factory farms of south-east Asia have been blamed for spreading avian flu...
I'd second that. The carrot cake and lemon explosion cake are particularly good, really moist and they don't fall to bits!. You can get the Vegan Cake Book from here too....
Richard Adams wrote a book called The Plague Dogs about two dogs who escape from a vivisection lab which was made into an animated film in 1982....
I used to use a kosher margarine in the early 1980s called Tomor because it was quite difficult to get vegan margarines in the UK back then. Kosher non-dairy creamers for tea and coffee were useful...
The Long Man of Wilmington chalk hill figure and Battle Abbey where the Battle of Hastings took place are not far from me.

Vitamin D3 is from an animal source, usually lanolin I think, but vitamin D2 is ok for vegans.
It's a shame the backbenchers have only just found their backbones. If they'd found them sooner we wouldn't have been involved with the war in Iraq. They've finally found the guts to rebel in numbers...
At last, New Labour do something useful!
Sweet poem :) The Arthur Ling poem is good too.
Well, you live and learn!! I think I still prefer the cornish variety, vegan ones obviously :D
A Touch Of The Exotic...
How about giving your partner a present with the personal touch this Valentines Day? Beautifully packaged and handmade to order, Miss Bellaisis's collection of nipple...
Anyone notice the interesting typo in the 'a touch of the exotic...' piece on page 18? :D
My copy of the latest vegan mag has just arrived. I haven't had time to look at it thoroughy yet, but there is a lovely pamphlet in tribute to Donald Watson with the magazine.
I'm afraid the good people of Dover have never given two hoots about live exports in their town. There was never the reaction in Dover that there was in Shoreham, Coventry and Brightlingsea.

Animal rights issues are very important to me. It's the reason I became vegan in the first place. I soon learned how important veganism is to people's health and the planet too, but concern for...
When I first started buying them they were fine, but about a year ago wherever I bought them from they were an odd shape and looked as though they had been defrosted at some stage and were full of...
Happy Imbolc!

I gave up with the Rock and Roll cones as they started to be a funny shape as though thay had defrosted and full of ice crystals. Swedish Glace Smooth Vanilla lollies are nice.
From the Animal Free shopper:
"The production of spirits does not usually involve the use of animal substances. However, some red drinks may contain cochineal/carmine as a colouring agent."

I like the fact that the co-op lable everything clearly and their stuff is BUAV approved, but some things contain parabens and other nasties.
There's a huge co-op store near me, but it's mainly...
Not 100% sure if I'm able to go yet, but I'm hoping to.
