First of all: re. the "it plays a small role in my life", I should correct myself: I didn't actually find that statement...

I think it's 'ofcoursable' that vegans respect both animals and humans, but 'vegan' as a definition is focusing on the animal related aspect of compassion/empathy. One wouldn't call an organization...
