I'll be without power for 10 days while on holiday. What are your favourite 'no electricity' raw recipes.
The support for mothers who have anything more than positioning issues is shocking. We eventually had to privately fund (which I'm against) her having her tongue tie snipped, which eventually solved...
She's two now, and I'm planning in child led weaning, which may or may result in tandem nursing if we press on with plans to expand the brood.
She's very milk motivated. I'm sure she knows what...
Fine. They are mostly fairly liberal tree jiggers anyway, so it was only really my sister's child who looked askance at celery ;)
What do your (vegan) kids have for breakfast?
Just curious if anyone else is breastfeeding a toddler?
In the end it was a bit of a sugarfest. We had lots of cakes, scones (savoury) sandwiches, crisps, popcorn, dips, vegetable fingers and a raw 'cheezecake' for the adults.
...
Awesome. Loads of really good ideas :)
Thanks you folks :)
I always find it hard to find stuff that is toddler suitable. DD adores books, but she's too young for 'That's why we don't eat animals' and 'Herb the vegetarian dragon.
DD is turning two shortly and we have a number of omni children coming to her party. The party will be 100% vegan, but I have a feeling our normal healthy diet might not be what a lot of them are...
Congratulations on your decision to keep breastfeeding your daughter into her second year of life. I firmly believe breast milk to be one of the foundations of health both within childhood and long...
Does anyone cook to freeze for future meals? I have a toddler so don't gave much time for cooking at the moment so I'm really after cheap, healthy, freezable meals.
It's no prob to cook a bit of...
Wow, that's frustrating. We had lots of problems establishing BF due to a tongue tie. I can't imagine the extra complexity in your life by having to pump for each feed. Well done :)
I know nothing...
That's interesting, I preferred the Tesco stuff. I found it less vanilla and more tangy. The texture needed a good stir though.
I buy store own brand versions, they don't taste quite the same, but are very nice. Sainsburys do a low sodium one.
I'd eat the Marmite. Unileaver aren't going to be harmed by you bunging it in...
Is anyone here going to any of the Facebook Nurse ins on6th feb?

Our vegan bubba feeding :)
Tesco sell some which specifically say 'suitable for vegetarians and vegans' which are fairly cheap :)
Hope they help.
I am upping my raw intake at the moment, but to supplement the cooked foods I eat rather than replace them. Being a recovered/recovering anorexic very stringent rules on what I should/shouldn't eat...
What do you for the 'egg' fried rice?
Alicia is 9 1/2 months now, and still mostly just has breastmilk. She has days she wants to eat, and days she doesn't. If I bite into hard fruit, she loves to lick/suck it but the lack of teeth...
The vegan diet can cause people to lose weight because junk isn't as accessible. When I was veggie I'd think nothing of grabbing a choccy bar to eat on the way home to 'keep me going until dinner'.

I take a multivit for nursing mums, and an omega oil capsule. I also take a calcium pill at the moment. But that's on and off.
How do you people remember what you ate? I mean on terms of things like 3 olives eg?
B: 'eggy' bread w/yeast extract
Bran flakes w/coconut milk
L: Apple
: uncheese Gouda sandwhich

Hi Gec,
My daughter is 9 months and her menu is pretty much this
Booooooooooooooooobs
A bit off mummy's plate
Booooooooooooobs
Some yoghurt with a little tahini in it
Booooooooooooooobs...
Oddly, I like using cups (despite being from the UK). It's quicker IMHO and I can easily eyeball a food packet in the cupboard to see if there is a cup of whatever before I start to cook.
Gourmet...
I have been looking for the Swedish Glacé Peak 'Cornetto'
+1
I remember saying that I didn't agree with the killing of animals.
It's quite difficult isn't it? Nestle are not good for animal use, and are generally terrible all round. I originally started boycotting Nestle when I was just vegetarian, not vegan and not for...
I expect there has been a smattering of mentions here and there, but I thought a thread to combine them would be of use.
Where in the UK can we find vegan Christmas foods like Mince Pies,...
They are, however, Nestle. Who are hugely unethical in a number of ways. I haven't knowingly bought a Nestle product in over 15 years I'd think.
I used to like kit kats to.
Berwick upon tweed.
I've never left the UK. We didn't have the money when we were kids, then through Uni I didn't get a grant and decided debt was a foolish idea just to travel. Once married I...
About a year before we went vegan MrDerious realised that Quorn gave him stomach cramps, so no loss for us.
Have you noticed how much Quorn
Is trying to distance itself from being a vegetarian...
I had nausea in the first trimester, but was never actually sick. I've been vegetarian 17 years and vegan three, so I don't think it was a factor for me.
I found taking care not to let my blood...
Such nice pictures :)
Alicia seems determined to become a raw fruitarian at the moment, but she's getting a good handle on the idea of food. So far mango is the winner :)
So far very lightly steamed carrots and apples seem to be popular as are unsalted rice cakes. She also had a good suck on a home made rusk. Nappy changes are now entertaining as that's when I get an...
Baby Alicia will be 6 months tomorrow and we are planning on starting BLW then.
Its all very exciting and up to this point she's been exclusively breastfed.
ETD: One of the things I'm fussing...
I do have a pump, well two actually. I bought an Avent Isis manual one at first as I didn't intend on pumping very often. This was excruciatingly painful to use, and I think contributed to the damage...
Huuuuuuge Sci-Fi and fantasy fan here.
I've noticed that a lot of the vegans I talk to via twitter are also sci-fi fans, I'm not sure that would stand up to scrutiny, but there does seem to be a...
Yes, we are really lucky. The clinic runs for three hours twice a week, right out of the hospital where I gave birth. Its not very well promoted, but its very well attended, and several of the ladies...
