    Re: Your personal vegan story

^Wow, your story is neat. Generations of vegans. I hope you're able to raise your baby vegan. Have you read Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis and Vessanto Melina? There's a chapter in there on being...

  3. Re: Food firms spend millions to stop labelling that identifies unhealthy produ

Interesting idea. I wish they'd bring "stoplight labeling" to the US. I don't think most people bother to check nutrition labels for whatever reasons, and this would be simple way for them to make...

    Re: 101 Reasons I'm a Vegan

Thanks! It cited some pretty specific reasons, so I was wondering about sources, but it still was really interesting.

Re: where do you draw the line

I wouldn't eat the food, but would politely explain that I'm vegan. I wouldn't wear second-hand leather, because it promotes wearing leather to other people. I draw the line at necessary medications....

    Re: Vegan Ohio

I live in Columbus. I've never been to Pattycakes, but want to go. The price is the only deterrent right now. I wanted to buy a cake awhile back, but I just didn't have the cash. :(

25, but I wish I did it it a long, long time ago. I'm thinking of raising my future kids vegan.

Vegan police sound really scary, too, kind of like the thought police from 1984.

    Re: New Vegan...

Good for your mom. People around me seem to be slowly adapting, too.

A good cookbook is Vegan on the Cheap. The recipes in there are economical, and the ones I've cooked have been pretty simple to...

Re: Vegan world = world peace?

I was thinking free will. It'd have to be free will for people to really understand it.
  11. Re: Do vegans need supplements? Do you take any?

I couldn't take the taste or smell of Veg1. It made me gag, and I couldn't keep it down. Maybe I got an icky batch? I don't know if I'll try ordering again to see. The regimen I outlined above seems...

    Vegan world = world peace?

Do you think if everyone became vegan and got over that hurdle of respecting animals as living entities that have the right not to be harmed, they might get over that hurdle of respecting the rights...

Re: Why weren't you vegan before you became vegan?

I didn't think I had the strength to take control of what I was eating without going overboard (into an eating disorder).

    Re: Your personal vegan story

As I sit here stuffing a few too many bites of vegan pancakes into my mouth, I'm thinking about my rats. They died several years ago, but I still remember the disdainful tone of the people who...

Re: Advice to a 16 year old 'you'?

    1) Go vegan! You'll feel better in so many ways.
    2) Break up with Charles and get as far away from him as possible.
    3) See a psychiatrist.

Re: How should meateaters be viewed?

That's how I view it, too. Positivity works. I'm sad they're eating meat, but in this society, I can't blame them. I'm just fortunate to have been exposed to the right circumstances which turned me...

    Re: Tricks To Staying Vegan?

I pull up a mental image of the animal that was exploited to make that product. Example: I picture a caged, diseased chicken with it's beak partially cut off when my dad offers me a piece of apple...
  20. Re: Do vegans need supplements? Do you take any?

I just did a nutritional analysis of everything I ate for a day, and it seems that if I take a B-complex supplement, eat legume- and vegetable-based foods, eat a salad with dark greens and olive oil,...

Re: Are meat eaters' arguments really getting this bad?

That's awful. Could you bring it up with your teacher? Maybe you could bring in your references (print them out, bring in the books, etc.) and show your teacher how they're more reputable than the...

Re: My very first vegan cookies!

The peanut butter I used wasn't great (lots of additives), but it had no non-vegan ingredients. Probably an organic peanut butter with just salt added would be better. That's what I plan on buying...
