    Default love the planet

i did do a search but couldnt find anything, so i hope this is ok to post.

i went on the lovetheplanet website..and looked at their products. they have the 'vegan' approved logo & the BUAV bunny on their frontpage. anyway, looked at a lip balm that said "suitable for vegans" but said it contains beeswax! :/

that doesnt make much sense. has anyone bought any stuff from love the planet?

    http://www.lovetheplanet.co.uk/index.html

    edit:
hmm..ok..i looked at the individual ingredients and it doesnt say beeswax on any of them. only in the descriptions. is there another word for beeswax, that is used on ingredients lists at all?

According to google, Cera Flava is beeswax.

So I think they do contain beeswax.

I've sent them an email to tell them beeswax is not a suitable product for vegans.

I sent an email to another company a while ago who stated that their soaps were vegan but they contained something non-vegan. They had accidentally labeled them vegan on their webpage. Does no-one in their company check their sites for errors???

    I had this reply...

Thank you for your email. I am well aware that vegans do not use beeswax. If
you look at the website, it is clearly stated which products are suitable
for vegans and for vegetarians. The Vegan Society have provided approval for
the majority of the range which are vegan friendly.
    Kind regards,
    Laura

I sent one back and copied the part from the webpage where it clearly states "beeswax" and "suitable for vegans". Either they don't check their site or she can't read! I think she was rude in her mail! And wrong!!

i emailed them too and they sent me a rude sounding reply, and yes their website clearly says that the lip rescue contains beeswax and then underneath it says 'suitable for vegans'.

I got this back from them...

Thank you for taking the time to bring that to my attention! I'll get on to the website people to change it to Vegan as it should be, not Vegetarian.
    Thanks again,
    Laura

I've come to the conclusion that she doesn't read much correctly, including her own emails!!

aaah i went on the website, and they have changed it to "suitable for vegetarians".

no need to email then cant believe the woman was so rude though. i hate people who work for vegan/veggie companies but dont really give a shit about the morals/values. its just a fucking job to them.

i think i am going to email the vegan society though.

i emailed the vegan society and they said their never gave them permission to label that product as vegan. but they are glad its changed.

at the end of the email, the guy said "if there's anything else you would like to know about, please email again" so i did. cos i wanted to know why they'd approved knorr ragu sauces when they are owned by unilever and still no reply.
