Ethical Computer Companies In Australia?

Does anyone know of a ethical computer company that operates in Oz?

I was planning on buying a MAC until I read in the paper about their human rights abuse in China- and this got me thinking.

I'm trying to find something that is environmentally friendly, offers a recycling program and is not critisized for human right abuse. Does such a company exist? Is there one which is less offensive than the others?

Please help me out!

All motherboards are made in china aswell as a lot of the other components. My advice is to go to an independant builder anyway. I know of someone in (I think) Melbourne, but it's quite high-end stuff.

I don't know if PCs are recylable, but a good PC can be useful for much longer than a big name PC.

I'd avoid the likes of HP, Dell, Apple etc, because it's more money you're sending to companies involved in military etc.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I'm thinking of going to a Australian company that puts the computer together themselves (like Computer World). Plus, it's heaps cheaper because you're not paying for the brand or a stylish look.

Not much I can do about the components but it's better than anything else. I read that you can and should recycle your computers as one computer contributes as much waste as a car. YIKES!

EDIT: I'm sure I read that Microsoft funds the Republican party, which pisses me off.
