Default World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms

... or http://www.wwoof.org to be precise.

any of you folks heard of this? it's basically a system whereby you stay on a working farm and gain knowledge and experience of working the land and getting 'back to nature' and suchlike, and in return for your labour (a few hours a day) you get food and lodging. sort of like a working holiday. there are hundreds of member hosts throughout the world, so i'd say it sounds like a good way to have cheap holidays around the world and meet new people.

obviously, a lot of the hosts will be distinctly un-vegan and nasty, but i'm sure that if you exclude the animal-based farms there would be plenty that we wouldn't have any ethical problems with. i haven't looked into it yet, but i don't doubt that there would be some with a vegan ethic.

get yer wellies on and get stuck in!

Sounds like a good place to threaten to send your kids to when they are bad.

A friend of mine goes to these places and she's in her late 60's! She just loves it.
