Thanks for the list. What would be most helpful (given that this thread was started 5 years ago and much of the info is undoubtably outdated) would be to produce it with dates, links and name of the poster.

    go on then

what i did was start at the begining of the thread and if new info came up on the way through i altered what was on the list. If something is halfway through the list then you can assume that it is halfway through the thread other than that I am not going through the whole thing again - you do it!

    Good evening,

Thank you for your enquiry. As far as I am aware, none of the products used in our bottled beers contain or derive from isinglass, gelatine or egg albumen. None of our products contain honey.

Question Re: Vegan beer & cider

I've contacted the van Honsebrouck brewery who make Bacchus, paper wrapped, Belgian fruit beers. I was careful with phrasing my message to be clear it was the production, not the ingredients I was referring to - giving isinglass as an example of what I was talking about. Unfortunately, what I got back was a quite ambiguous "None of our beers contain animal substances."

(Then I realised that the paper wrapped, Belgian fruit beers I was remembering were actually Liefmans, who are down as vegan suitable on another list. The list is very old though, so I'll contact them about now.)
PS. Supposedly Liefmans did the paper-wrapping first. So there, Bacchus.

Just received this confirmation email as I wanted to recheck since Morrisons are doing Lemon flavour and Toffee Apple flavour Brothers cider for £1 a bottle.

Many thanks for your email, all Brothers Ciders are suitable for Vegans, as we do not use isinglass in our production process.

I need help with this list if you have any time to spare.

I need to know if any of these are vegan or not.

It was a much bigger list and I've managed to reduce it.

I'm hoping a few people can contribute as I need to complete the list Friday evening at latest.

There are a lot of generics there that can't be analysed as we don't have a brand. But an indication will do.

the following from that list i believe are vegan:
    Tia Maria
    Southern Comfort
Jack Daniels - except they seal their barrels with beeswax apparently (but so could other brands i suppose)
    Corona
    Coors Light
    Red Bull
most vodkas - really need to know the brand though i think

    most sherries aren't vegan i don't think?

    Strongbow isn't vegan any more

fruit juices can contain many non-vegan ingredients, again depends on the brand

it's been discussed a lot in this very thread. basically, the company that makes Strongbow have said that while most of it is probably ok, they sometimes buy in supplies from other factories that use non-vegan filtering methods. so, there's no way of knowing whether what you're drinking is vegan or not.

I like the premium organic and black fox ciders from dunkertons, dry crisp and tasty.
Aspalls has a fuller flavour but is pricey. Westons is a good all rounder really.

I can vouch for Aspalls....it is gorgeous. And it's 7% so drink with caution lol.

    Dear Richard

Thank-you for your e-mail and enquiry.

As the process stands at the moment, Gaymers Cider is suitable for vegetarians / vegans , however and I must stress ,

" We reserve the right to use Fining agents such as isinglass, in the cider making process".

If we ever use this process which we reserve the right to do, the cider would then be filtered to remove the finings but there many be slight traces left, we would then not be able to say that Addlestones is vegetarian / vegan friendly.

Thank-you for contacting us and we hope the information provided has been of some use.
so regular emailing required when buying this

    Kind Regards

I think the same is required for all brands; they are just a bit more honest and forthcoming with info than others.

I need to know if any of these are vegan or not.

I'm hoping a few people can contribute as I need to complete the list Friday evening at latest.

    KALIBER
    Just a few months late...

Thank you so much for your recent email. We always love to hear from our loyal consumers, their thoughts and comments, as it keeps us in touch with the people that matter - you!

In response to your query, Kaliber is, like most of our other beers, produced with the aid of isinglass. Isinglass is a fish product used to help remove the yeast at the end of the beer production process. While most of the isinglass is removed, we cannot guarantee 100% removal of isinglass.

Some vegetarians may find this acceptable. As we understand it, the fact that any animal product has been used in production of Kaliber is sufficient to make it unsuitable for vegans.

I hope this information is useful to you and that you continue to enjoy our brands.

Question Is Belgian Kriek (cherry beer) vegan?

I always thought all alcohols except Tequilla were vegan so I was very surprised to read that so many of them are not.
I don't normally drink alcohol but I really like Belgian Kriek. Does anyone know if it's vegan?

I don't know about belgian kriek specifically (other than that there's every chance it uses isinglass), but know that Sam Smiths sell a vegan cherry beer (bottled).

I sent an e-mail to Beers of Europe to ask what is used for clarification of Kriek.
    I hope they will answer.

You really need to contact individual manufacturers - entire industries don't work to the same ingredients / production methods.
