Blackadder: Baldrick, have you no idea what irony is?
Baldrick: Yes, it's like goldy and bronzy only it's made out of iron.
YUM!!
Yum.
Shame I can't have chocolate OR orange. *cries*
"It's not that people suddenly start breeding like rabbits; it's just that people stopped dropping like flies" - population explosion
you could leave out the cocoa & chips and add some vanilla essence and blueberries or raspberries or lemon/lime juice & rind for a different muffin witchy??
Good idea.

"We ourselves may be loved only for a brief time...Even so, that will suffice...There is a land for the living and there is a land for the dead"
They do look nice. The few times I`ve tried to make muffins, they always comes out small and not moist at all. My boyfriend love oranges and I love chocolate so this should be something for both of us. I`ll give it a try.
i make these constantly marie, and they never fail to succeed - always soft and light!
Ok cedarblue I`ll try them this weekend and let you know how they turned out.
oh WoW! i got to try them!!
I'm always looking at muffins longingly wishing could eat them !!

excellent! you do need muffin cases though not really fairy/cup cake case, they're just not tall enough to get the rise. don't be economical with the mix and be tempted to make more muffins by reducing the amount of mix in each.
i don't think anyone else has actually made them yet.
a tip; i used the rind and juice of two oranges for extra flavour.
Hi cedarblue. Muffin cases? Like the one in the picture? Here in Norway I`ve seen some called "american style" made of paper or some small ones used for children parties.
muffin cases are made of paper but are bigger and deeper than kids cupcake cases. you could make them in cup cases but you'd make a lot! if you have a deep muffin tin to cook in the oven too, that would support the muffin sides from splaying outwards.
if you look at my photo, you can see that the tin is deeper.
i think the american style ones will probably be the right ones, i think they're an american cake after all
wow...quick reply. Did you put paper muffin cases in a muffin tin?
yes, i got it at a john lewis department store but you should be able to get one from a kitchen shop, selling bowls, utensil, tins etc?
Thank you cedarblue.
i'm expecting to see a photo you know!
I`ve had a hard time just to figure out how to get my reply send of, so how to get a picture in to this system will be........... .......
Double choc orange muffins. I did it. They came out fluffy and yummy. The best I ever made
Very yummy, tho nxt time i think i shall make 1 and a half times the recipe so they are really big!!!

Good enough to eat...

HELP! I need to make a batch of these for a get-together at a friend's house on Tuesday eve. They're omnis and are convinced vegans eat nothing but lettuce and fruit
I'm hoping to get all the baking done today (choc chip cookies and brownies too).
I don't have a muffin tray - would normal bun (cupcake) papers and tray do? OH can go buy one if necessary but he'd rather not!
Also (and very crucially) I don't have the juice/rind of 1 orange, nor do said friends like the taste of oranges. I'd rather do blueberry muffins anyway - does that eliminate the need for orange?
Anyone able to advise how to convert these muffins to blueberry? Any help gratefully received
i'd say you would need a muffin tin as the sides are taller and without the tall sides sometimes the muffin mix pushes the sides of the pape cases out. also i converted these to blueberry and all i did was leave out the choc powder, orange & choc chips and put in some vanilla essence and blueberries. they were very moist and yum.
Thanks cedar - was hoping you'd reply!!
I have vanilla essence and blueberries so will text OH now and inform him he's muffin tin shopping before returning home.
I feel quite anxious about getting these just right (indeed all the planned baking) as one of my friends made a throwaway comment this morning about how vegans probably deprive themselves of all the nice foods in life!
Of course nothing could be further from the truth, but my baking is not great, and may not be the best way of proving this to her...
good luck with them est!
I realy want to veganise some orange choc chip muffins we used to buy in the supermarket, searched the forum and this came up. I might try them this weekend!
i'm sure you'll like them kitteh! don't stint on the orange zest and carob or cocoa powder imo.
Good tip, I might make them this afternoon, I definitely want to be able to taste the orange!
Made these tonight, I subbed in rice flour so they are gluten free and added the rice milk at the end like they suggested but my bf thought they were a bit chewy/thick, so maybe I needed to add more rice milk to make the batter a bit less thick. Also it only made 8 for me.
I think they are lovely, I love how orangey their flavour is
They look fantastic.
I made a batch of these a few months back and they went down very very well, they were so yummy, you've tempted me to make some more now
