Thumbs up Michael Moore - factual contributions needed - highlight animal experimentation

    Dear Friends,
Don't know if anyone has posted
    this already.

Here is a request for factual story contributions
toward Michael Moore's latest movie. If you know
someone who lives in the US, or you live in the
    US -

This is a good opportunity to highlight to
    Michael Moore, animal torture, exploitation
& experimentation at the hands of pharmaceutical
    companies etc.

He may not mention animal experimentation
in his latest movie, but if we keep bringing his
attention to non human animal exploitation,
Michael Moore may one day do a movie on
this topic if he receives enough contributions,
information or requests. He may at least include
it one day in a movie. He said he will be reading
    these emails.

You may know someone who may be interested
in contributing to this RE their own plight as well.

    ==========

    From Michael Moore:

    2/3/06

    Friends,

How would you like to be in my next movie? I know you've
probably heard I'm making a documentary about the health
care industry (but the HMOs don't know this, so don't tell them
-- they think I'm making a romantic comedy).

If you've followed my work over the years, you know that
I keep a pretty low profile while I'm making my movies. I
    don't give interviews, I don't go on TV and I don't defrost
my refrigerator. I do keep my website updated on a daily
basis (there's been something like 4,000,000 visitors just
this week alone) and the rest of the time I'm... well, I can't
tell you what I'm doing, but you can pretty much guess.
It gets harder and harder sneaking into corporate headquarters,
but I've found that just dying my hair black and wearing a
    skort really helps.

Back to my invitation to be in my movie. Have you ever
found yourself getting ready to file for bankruptcy because
you can't pay your kid's hospital bill, and then you say
to yourself, "Boy, I sure would like to be in Michael
    Moore's health care movie!"?

Or, after being turned down for the third time by your
HMO for an operation they should be paying for,
do you ever think to yourself, "Now THIS travesty
should be in that 'Sicko' movie!"?

Or maybe you've just been told that your father is going
to have to just, well, die because he can't afford the
drugs he needs to get better -- and it's then that you
say, "Damn, what did I do with Michael Moore's
    home number?!"

OK, here's your chance. As you can imagine, we've
got the goods on these crooks. All we need now is
to put a few of you in the movie and let the world
see what the greatest country ever in the history of
the universe does to its own people, simply because
they have the misfortune of getting sick. Because
getting sick, unless you are rich, is a crime -- a crime
for which you must pay, sometimes with your own life.

About four hundred years from now, historians will
look back at us like we were some sort of barbarians,
but for now we're just the laughing stock of the
    Western world.

So, if you'd like me to know what you've been through
with your insurance company, or what it's been like
to have no insurance at all, or how the hospitals and
doctors wouldn't treat you (or if they did, how they
sent you into poverty trying to pay their crazy bills) ...
if you have been abused in any way by this sick, greedy,
grubby system and it has caused you or your loved ones
great sorrow and pain, let me know.

Send me a short, factual account of what has happened
to you -- and what IS happening to you right now if
you have been unable to get the health care you need.
Send it to michael@michaelmoore.com. I will read
every single one of them (even if I can't respond to
or help everyone, I will be able to bring to light a
    few of your stories).

Thank you in advance for sharing them with me
and trusting me to try and do something about a
very corrupt system that simply has to go.

Oh, and if you happen to work for an HMO
    or a pharmaceutical company or a profit-making
hospital and you have simply seen too much abuse
of your fellow human beings and can't take it
any longer -- and you would like the truth to be
told -- please write me at michael@michaelmoore.com.
I will protect your privacy and I will tell the world
what you are unable to tell. I am looking for a
few heroes with a conscience. I know you are out
    there.

Thank you, all of you, for your help and your
continued support through the years. I promise you
that with "Sicko" we will do our best to give you
not only a great movie, but a chance to bring
down this evil empire, once and for all.

In the meantime, stay well. I hear fruits and
    vegetables help.

    Yours,
    Michael Moore

Sorry, I wouldn't do this. I think that asking Michael Moore to highlight the vegan cause would be a great way to get some backlash. I'm doing the best I can to convince people that moderate folk should support animal rights and veganism.

I already get enough "hippie" beatings as it stands. Of course, I'm in favor of sneaking into the mainstream and corrupting them on the sly with good food and intelligent discourse about how much easier and healthier their lives would be if they didn't eat animals.
Edit: I live in the middle of "Red America" and if MM did a video on animal rights, I'd have a harder time convincing people of my position simply because they'd think I was brainwashed by him.

I am not sure that he is a vegan or a vegetarian.... I am sure if he was it would be posted on his website, its something to be proud of in my opinion.
I wrote him... Of course if I happened to end up in one of his films (Which wont happen) everyone that knows me would say "Hmm... I told you so"

I just wrote him encouraging him to add Veganism to his story and gave him some examples of why people choose Veganism and Macrobiotics over pharmaceuticals.

I think Micheal Moore is a brilliant and effective media activist. His documentaries offer a refreshing alternative to the rest of the media brainwashing. They tackle some shocking and disturbing world events and are illuminating, direct and hard hitting but they are also sensitive, humane and humourous. In this way they have had a massive impact on many people. I think it would be fantastic for Micheal Moore to make a documentary about veganism, given that he was genuinely behind it. I dont want to hide my veganism and present it as just another food fad. I would like people to come to their own conclusion, based on the facts and to decide veganism is the right choice, for them, for others, for the animals, for the environment.

I agree with Michael Moore on more than a few points but I would rather that he stay away from veganism.

Here are some of his beliefs from Dude Where's My Country?:

"Animals don't have rights. Yes they should be treated 'humanely.' Yes, Tyson Foods and all the others that 'harvest' chickens are disgusting. But 'freeing' chickens from heir factory farms is idiotic. They don't know how to survive in the wild and they're just going to get hit by a truck."

"Vegetarianism is unhealthy. Humans need protein, and lots of it. Put
down those sprouts and pick up a T-bone!"

i was going to say i thought Michael Moore would be pretty hostile to the whole idea, but didn't have anything to back it up... i think that settles it.

Can't say MM looks a very good advert for this regime! No doubt it's meant to be a joke though

He's a great activist, but only on issues that fit with the status quo (IMHO). I'm sure more Americans are anti-guns than are pro-veganism, if you get what I mean.

i do think that getting michael moore to do anything on veganism is a bit far fetched- but i love that man anyways! he has his work and we have ours, but who knows!! i can't wait for his next movie-

last email from his site to me.......others may have their crushes on johnny depp, but michael moore is mine

    Friends,
Let the resounding defeat of Senator Joe Lieberman send a cold shiver down the spine of every Democrat who supported the invasion of Iraq and who continues to support, in any way, this senseless, immoral, unwinnable war. Make no mistake about it: We, the majority of Americans, want this war ended -- and we will actively work to defeat each and every one of you who does not support an immediate end to this war.
Nearly every Democrat set to run for president in 2008 is responsible for this war. They voted for it or they supported it. That single, stupid decision has cost us 2,592 American lives and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives. Lieberman and Company made a colossal mistake -- and we are going to make sure they pay for that mistake. Payback time started last night.
I realize that there are those like Kerry and Edwards who have now changed their position and are strongly anti-war. Perhaps that switch will be enough for some to support them. For others, like me -- while I'm glad they've seen the light -- their massive error in judgment is, sadly, proof that they are not fit for the job. They sided with Bush, and for that, they may never enter the promised land.
To Hillary, our first best hope for a woman to become president, I cannot for the life of me figure out why you continue to support Bush and his war. I'm sure someone has advised you that a woman can't be elected unless she proves she can kick ass just as crazy as any man. I'm here to tell you that you will never make it through the Democratic primaries unless you start now by strongly opposing the war. It is your only hope. You and Joe have been Bush's biggest Democratic supporters of the war. Last night's voter revolt took place just a few miles from your home in Chappaqua. Did you hear the noise? Can you read the writing on the wall?
To every Democratic Senator and Congressman who continues to back Bush's War, allow me to inform you that your days in elective office are now numbered. Myself and tens of millions of citizens are going to work hard to actively remove you from any position of power.
If you don't believe us, give Joe a call.
    Yours,
    Michael Moore

This is a bloody brilliant idea! Michael Moore himself may like nothing more than the taste of a bloody steak but he is the right kind of person to open up a debate. Especially if it opens his own eyes to the cruelty of the farming industry. My only reservation is he will find the loopiest vegans he can no doubt wearing tie-dye with unwashed hair to be our inarticulate spokepeople.

The trouble is a rampant apologist for individualism, which isn't particularly compatible with the idea of compassion.

He's done some great things, but if he believes something is his right then I can't imagine him changing.
