Thanks for this useful info Manish. I'm glad that this is being hosted in India. Veganism is not common there and I'm sure it will provide an arena for communication and education in Veganism.

I really look forward to going for that one. Maybe, I will schedule my holidays to fall during that time so I can optmise my visit.

    Hi Shankar,

could you write a little about the workshop and lectures (if it's not too early) and about how long time it would take to get there, in hours, from Mumbai?

    Hi, Korn.

Though it is a bit early, we are already working on the aspects like lectures, workshops, procession, tour, etc. We would like to give 50% of time/slots for speakers from outside India. Anybody who wants to speak may ontact us soon.

While we are planning to rope in some Indian celebrities(vegans and non-vegans), we will also have speeches by orators who can speak against animal exploitation and cruelty.

We will have a peace march on Mahatma Gandhi's birthday (Oct.2). We will have theme days and one day will be reserved for vegan/animal activists.

It would be a good occasion for vegans to personally meet & network and for those who are not yet vegans, to learn more and move closer to vegansim.

While we plan to make the event an enjoyable and memorable experience to the participants with lots of fun, entertainment etc., we will also have enough time devoted to sessions on mapping how to veganise India/world. We are also trying to get maximum mileage for vegansim by giving wide coverage in print and visual media.

    Travel from Mumbai to Murdeshwar:

By Bus: about 18 hours, by train: 14 hours, and by flight : 5 hours (Mumbai-Goa by air and Goa-Murdeshwar :Road or Rail)

Please note this change. Earlier this festival was planned at Byndoor. Later moved to Murdeshwar, about 35kms north of Byndoor for some critical reasons. Now it is finalised and confirmed to be celebrated at Murdeshwar.

It is a vegetarian hotel, located in a hindu pilgrim/tourist place with lots of people walking in for the exhibitions on veganism. For the residents, it is a beautiful place ideal to spend a week amongst vegans at a very very reasonable price. We have got some sponsors to make the cost so less.

I would really love to go this, and am definately considering it. However, as much as I enjoy travelling on my own, this is something id like to go with someone to. The volunteer programme afterwards looks tempting too...

I would if you didn't mind travelling with a deafblind person. I've got a bit of useful vision but no useful sight so you would have to communicate via my comunication card.

This festival sounds really good. I've always wanted to go to India. Does anyone know how far away it is from the Karzi Mata rat temple? I'd just need to find a sitter for my rats and guide dog Jilli.

i am booked into the main venue at rns residency, murdeshwar, karnataka, 30th sept to 6th october.

a ***hotel with three vegetarian restaurants, swimming pool, wow and a wave pool. the whole 6 day package with food was under $us50 per day. i economise elsewhere.

i arrive bangalore 9.30pm tues. 25th sept and ?plan for goa till the festival starts. afterwards the ?plan is to make for sadhana forest and hang out.

my main plan is really a flow and whatever takes over... i look for a vegan central point and connection with the eyes of existence... in other words a great time...

Thumbs up Re: 11th International Vegan Festival 2007, India

hi yorit and aviram. yeah i am keen to meet u both as well as shankar and manish. this will be a highlight for me.

i was in gurjarat last year to meet with the jain community, but alas, i met no other vegans, though some wonderful vege people.

on another topic, i am keen to be a speaker at this conference and am wondering about using the software 'powerpoint'. is there any information in this regard? not that it matters.

as this is the first conference i have ever attended in a long life, i would like to help in making it as best we can and that it is progressive and hope-giving...

ps. yes i have all the information on the sadhana project thanks. i am a vegan gardener and teach vegan cooking and food preparation too.

    keep well

    Hi friends,

The Festival is over, there were vegans from 15 countries. While everyone enjoyed, we got some publicity also for veganism. I missed you all there. Please go to the following link to see some of the photos and a report.

See you sometime in the future.

    With love,
