I generally find it's better to change a post to something comical that makes the person who replied look stupid than deleting it

You can delete the text in the post, and replace it with eg. 'Text deleted'....
I replaced it with dots. I only wanted to delete some pics. But I understand what you're saying, Korn.

I disabled e-mail notifications (I think), but I still keep getting them. Is there owt that can be done? Or have I done something wrong?

Frosty, once you disable them, you stop getting new ones but the old threads need to be manually unsubscribed.

I couldn't get blank lines in a post I wrote. They were just ignored and the whole post showed up as one paragraph. Multiple spaces to try and get around that were ignored too.

This post doesn't seem to be affected.

I did unblock javascript though - is that the reason?

Yep - that seems to be it. I'm not sure why javascript was turned off for this forum, I'm sure I usually have it enabled for here

Try to turn off Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages and also, select No Email Notification under 'Default Thread Subscription Mode' - both in your User Control Panel->Edit Options.

You may also need to manually unsubsribe to the threads you have subscribed to (this was necessary in earlier versions of the vBulletin software, not sure how it works in 3.6.7).

    Here's a question I've got a few times:
Do you consider posting a link to vegan-relevant site 'spam'?
No - on the contrary, we encourage people to mention sites that are interesting/relevant for vegans, whether they are commercial or not. (It's the repeated posts to the same sites we try to avoid.)

(We removed four posts earlier this week that looked like one-off posts, but that wasn't because they were 'spam', but because they caused problems on our site (A weird loopback-situation occurred - the link caused lots of windows to be opened on our site, another thread supposed to link to the same site instead contained links to non-existing part of our on forum etc., and the last of these four threads/posts was removed because the poster asked us to remove it (typos etc).))

I've seen that problem as well, when certain words have been used in the message, like 'test' followed by 'method'. The server guys say that they are trying to find out why this happens...

If you have time, please try to send the message yo someone, eg. yourself, and remove words/blocks of words to see if there are certain words or word combinations that causes this message to pop up. If you find anything that can help the tech people solve the problem, please send me a PM!

    Thanks in advance!

I can't figure out which group I need to subscribe to get new updates of postings on the thread called "Post your picture". It seems to be a group called just "Member" but I don't see that option to subscribe to. All I see are options like: "Women, Teens, More polls" etc.

    TIA

    Hi Mahk,
This thread is in the regular Member Forum - registered users don't need to become members of any additional User Group to see this area or this thread.

OTOH, if you want to subscribe to the thread itself ("get new updates of postings on the thread called "Post your picture"), you need to go click on the thread, look for Thread Tools, and click on "Subscribe To This Thread"...

If you click "go advanced" (below the reply box), you will see the options for changing font and colour at the top of the box in which you type your message. You can change the colour without going advanced (click on the underlined A at the top of the box).

I dont think you can set a default font, size, or color, vegan; you have to change it per post.

Great name by the way. Hard to believe it was still available when you recently joined.

    Hi,
'New Posts' isn't a part of the (currently called) 'Work In Progress'-style, so you either have to use Today's Posts (inside the QuickLinks-menu) or use another style.
I've already hired someone to modify this style so it will have the same functions as the others, but it has ben postponed several times, and will either happen over the weekend or when we update to version 3.7 (most likely in early May).

Notifications from the forum have suddenly started going to junkmail (in hotmail) today. I can't make it stop! Is there an address I can add to my safe list to fix this? I tried webmaster @veganforum.

It's only a trick invented and used by George I. Gurdjieff. He sometimes gave people shocking and scary experiences only to help them see that even the greatest challenges in life aren't shocking or scary at all if we relate to them the right way.

Don't be scared Sandra. We'll hold your hand...er..mouse. You can change back to the older more familiar form if you want:

    Click:

    User Control Panel,

then Edit options (under "Settings & options" on the left),

then scroll to the bottom section Miscellaneous Options and change
Forum Skin to "Kelisa" (there are two kinds, I'm not sure what the difference is, anyone?, but both seem like the old style)

click Save Changes. Voilà, back to old-school normal.

Thank you everyone for your help...............Korn I have related to the problem in the right way and have solved it. (Actally, Bryzee told me what to do! )
I feel happy and safe again..................all's right with the world, my little haven the vegan forum has resumed it's normal colour.

p.s. I love the name George.................my son's called George............he was named after my dad who was also called George!

I think I found it so scary because I toddled off into the spring sunshine the other day leaving the forum with the default style and when I came home again it had turned bright blue!
I'm getting used to it now though, I might even be a very brave little girl and give it a go!

Yes, but you would have to close your eyes every time you stumble upon them, and there would be a short latency (a few milliseconds) before they would be blocked from your view. They would also become visible the moment you open your eyes again.

If I wanted to quote yours and gorillas last quotes I'd press the little 'mq' box on gorillas post then the quote box on yours Stu...et voila, multi quotes.

I'd noticed that too Gorilla, do you think the 'contacts' under networking is the same as the old 'buddies'

I was hoping it was still possible to quote everything in someone's post (including where they have quoted people) as you could in days of old, but this will do!
