I'd be interested to know if there's an Inuit word for vegan.

It would probably be a paragraph-long word roughly translatable to "There was once this weird guy who wouldn't eat fish and ended up starving to death".

The Italian word used to be "vegetaliano/a" when I was child, I remember it quite clearly. I haven't heard it in many, many years though. I wonder why. Everyone just says "vegano/a" or "vegan" now.

The Irish word for vegan is "véigeán", but it's not very widely known/understood. Vegetarian is "feoilséantóir".

I've never heard that before. Where did you come across that?

Check Vegan Passport guide for translations of I am vegan in 95% of world languages. Also, ivu.org has links for translations.

My vegan travel advice blog has helpful information.

I guess veganism isn't very popular in the Gaeltachtaí so most people wouldn't know it I asked the girl and she hadn't heard of it, either.
