Default Sinfully Vegan - Over 140 Decadent Desserts to Satisfy Every Vegan's Sweet Tooth

Does anybody else here have this cook book? It's awesome. I've tried the New York Style Cheese Cake, coconut pudding, and Island Breeze Cream Pie (a coconut cream pie). I don't know what I want to make out of it next (it all looks so good), so I'd thought I'd ask what everyone elses favorite recipes out of it are, assuming other people on this board have the book.

P.S. The cheese cake was really really good. my non-vegan friends and family members who tried it loved it and said it tasted like "real" cheese cake.

I've liked the few things I've made out of this cookbook. The peanut butter swirl brownies taste wonderful, but the texture is a bit rubbery. Still, I really liked them. The chocolate chip cookies are the bomb! I make them for family gatherings and everyone loves them. The gingerbread cookies are very good, but you must be very careful not to bake them too long, or they turn into bricks. They are especially good if you glaze them with the vanilla glaze recipe in the back. I'm looking forward to trying more of the recipes. So far, I have to say it's a good cookbook that I'm happy to have.

I have this book, but haven't read it. I bought it to my girlfriend because of the picture on the cover - in a short moment of forgetting that I'm not into chocolate cake. I'll extend my altruism, and go and check if there's any good apple pie recipes in it right now.

I too was lured into buying this by the picture on the cover! The thing I find disappointing about this book (and many others) is the fact that the recipes call for quite hard to find, specialist vegan stuff. Plus the fact that I hate egg replacers- never made a nice cake with them. One book I do love is 'Easy Vegan Cooking' by Leah Leneman. Lots of different recipes, and a good dessert section. Coincidentally also has a picture of a chocolate cake on the front cover. Anyone sensing a pattern in my book buying choices???

I baked a cake from this for my (vegan) sisters birthday. It was fantastic, I cannot believe how inivative it is with the ingredients and I can't wait to bake more cakes from this cookbook. (By the way it was the minty choc cake)

I made the cherry vanilla dream cake and It was OK! The frosting was delicious but the cake was not light and fluffy the way I like it. It was waaaay to thick and very dense. Do any of the other cakes come out light and spongy?

MATTd what kind of cream cheese do you use for your cheesecake?

I recently made the black and white cream pie. Several omnis couldn't believe it was vegan. It's really yummy and not too hard to make.

I'm thinking of buying this book, but I'm not sure.

Erm...anyone who has got the book...what sort of flour is mostly used in the recipes?

I'm just wondering, as I'm going to have to change the recipe a bit...and I'm not too good at making plain flour into self raising flour.

This is why I don't really like buying baking books online as I can't look through them.

I won a copy of this on ebay and paid £3.86 for it so worth looking there. I am looking forward to trying out some of the recommended recipes and will let you know how I get on.

A lot of the recipes just call for flour and the don't specify what kind.
Most of the recipes use unbleached white flour. A few of them use whole wheat flour or chickpea flour.

Arrowroot powder and xanthum gum are used quite a bit too.

    Hi People,

Can anyone who has got this book tell me which is the recipe for the choc cake on the front cover. It looks to me like a sacher-torte but I can't seem to find a recipe that looks like it will come out like that.......

    Thanks

It could be the Double Choc Delight. Looks like it. I've made this one several times and it's REALLY good!

Just substitute the 'flour' for SR flour and leave any baking soda or bi carb out of the recipe. Easy peasy!

If you type in "google books" into google it will let you preview quite a few books, just typing in vegan cooking will bring up loads. Sadly this book isn't one of them but I've got loads of free recipess of google book searches.

I've made a couple other things from this now.

The lemony cake with lemon icing was way too lemony. Like it was overly sour. I think if you cut some of the lemon juice and replaced it with water this might be fine.

The chocolate cake with coconut cream cheese frosting was really good. The cake has an awesome flavor although the texture is a bit rubbery. The icing was amazing! So flavorful. It was hard to convince people that I didn't use real cream cheese.
