mmmmm doughnuts!
does anyone know if sainsbur's have a vegan list?
last i heard, Sainsburys have also withdrawn their vegan list.
I'm confussed and want a doughnut! Hooray for Co-ops vegan digestives...

i went to tesco yesterday and asked about their doughnuts being vegan and she brought out the ingriedents list and i saw no dairy or animal ingredients. I haven't been vegan for very long so i could be wrong but i think they r vegan
I looked it up on a website and it said Marks and Spencers plus the co-op doughnuts are vegan?

Although I dont live near enough to either of the stores to check.
The day breaks and everything is new.
Yum - we had the same experience a while back where we asked the bakery guy and he assured us they were vegan (he also checked the ingredients list). However, when I heard rumour that they were were possibly not vegan, I called the Tescos hotline to find out for sure. The lady I spoke to explained that all their doughnuts contain egg powder and promised they would look into the mistake. Anyway, I lodged a complaint and we received a measly 5 pound Tesco voucher by way of apology.

It will be interesting to see if Tesco have done anything about that error. I hardly ever go there but next time I do I'll ask to see the ingredients sheet.

Reminds me of a similar thing a few years ago, back when I was veggie. Asda (Bristol) had marked up the tuna pasta on their salad bar as being "suitable for vegetarians" When I complained to their customer services they acknowledged the error and apologised, but when I check back a month later it was still there, unchanged. Grrrrr
Just shows how much they care about that sort of thing. Although I guess anyone with half a brain would be able to see (or smell!) it was tuna - not quite as sneaky as egg powder or milk.

So whats the update, are Tesco doughnuts vegan or not?
Just go to co-op instead and buy some that are labelled. If there isn't a co-op near by then count it as a blessing

Another fail: Costcutter stock Cuisine de France jam doughnuts that aren't vegan.
The Co-op list says that the Cuisine de France jam doughnuts sold in Co-op are suitable for vegans. However, I don't live very near a Co-op.
So I went into Costcutter and checked the bag of Cuisine de France jam doughnuts on sale - but it had no ingredients list, only allergy advice, saying: Contains X, Y, Z and egg; May contain: A, B, C and milk.
Wah - no doughnuts for me :-(
Only found these doughnuts a while ago, thought great had them once or twice went and got a bag tonight, when i got home for some reason i checked the label again there was not even a vegetarian sign on them now
That's awful, I know that I rely on big signs and sometimes on people just saying to me if something is vegan, due to my eyesight and if I can't bend down to see the label up close or if I don't have my magnifying glass. And if it had a lot of tuna then I would probably smell it (or at least by the time I would be spooning it onto my plate ), but I am fortunate that the only time something like that happened was there was something was labelled vegan and when I got there they were re-marking the sign to note it had dairy, after some people already ate there. But yeah, small pieces, or sometimes a smell could be masked, like if there's a lot of vinegar or other sauce, and there's not much of the meat or dairy or egg or whatever in question.
As one of the posts above says the Co-Op do Jam or Custard filled Doughnuts which are labelled as suitable for Vegans on the packets....and they are DIVINE!
