    Default "Vegan" by Tony Weston

I was just curious as to whether anyone has this book and has tried recipes from it. A couple of the recipes I've tried have been great, others so-so, others unappetising or inedible. I don't think it's my cooking
Also the nutrition section seems unnecessarily complex. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

i have this book (twice - i bought it myself and then got another one as a present ) i've only cooked a few of the recipes because a lot of them either don't appeal or sound too complicated. it is a really attractive book with some lovely photos, it looks very inviting, but for me it's not very useful. i think the nutrition advice is quite helpful.

The chocolate chip and walnut ice-cream is fantastic. As I'm allergic to chocolate, I made it with carob, and I couldn't get enough of it. All the recipes in his book contain at least one ingredient that I just wouldn't have in my cupboards, and often it's such a small amount needed that I can't really see the point of including it.

I agree, one cake out of there cost me £10 to make.

I'm guessing this is the book you mean? If not my mistake. lol

I made the omlette (horrible), chocolate gautex (horrible) and the porridge (not bad) out of there. lol

I don't like how a lot of the ingrediants are hard to find.

    that's the one witchy.

i made the mistake of buying some of the strange ingredients for recipes in this book and still have a cupboard full of stuff i'm never going to use, because i have no idea what else to do with any of it.

Yeah, one of the recipes out of there, i had to throw loads of ingrediants away as they went out of date before I'd used anything more than a pinch of it or whatever.

I have this book too, but i've been put off trying most of the recipes because of the long ingredients lists.
I tried the peach and apricot crumble but left out a few of the ingredients - it wasn't nice at all, it tasted far too 'healthy'
I also made the sunday roast drumsticks but I didn't think they tasted too great - but again I left out some of the ingredients so I might have missed something essential.

I have this book. I think the nutritional advice is amazing and it's good for encouraging people to try new things. I tried quinoa because I'd never heard of it before and I love it. I haven't tried the recipes yet though (or rather, encouraged my boyfriend to cook them!!)

Tigerlily, if I'd read this thread earlier, I could have put in a good word for you with Benjamin Zephaniah when I met him at the London fayre!

That's why i use a lot of Cherry's recipes on her Parsley Pot site, www.theparsleypot.co.uk They're mostly dead easy and really good too.

Cherry still hasn't made me anything though, all i hear is how much she's just enjoyed eating the chocolate cake or having pancakes for breakfast.
