Never lost any weight going vegan as far as I can remember as it was years ago, but in the last 6 months I have lost 1stone 2lb though exercise which I am well chuffed about, I have gone from 13st 8lb to 12st 6lb
since going vegetarian i lost 25kg, but i was sick so that doesn't really count, because i had to put some back on, where i am now though i think i have lost about 13-15kg
am i meant to loose weight being vegan or not? (JUST by the vegan diet, not less/more exersise)
i went vegan a year ago and havent lost anything yet.. sob sob sob. but soon, cause im gonna go 50% raw or something and 100 % whole grain. that wud help right?
Oh gosh, I don't know. I joined Weight Watchers several months before my veganism and continued to follow it after I turned vegan. I lost about 38 pounds; 18 before veganism, and 20 afterwards.
My first week I went vegan, I lost 5lbs! It was great, as I had reached a weight loss plateau for a couple of weeks.
I find it slightly easier to maintain my weight as a vegan since commercial baked goods and desserts usually aren't vegan.
well i did lose the first 15 by being vegan but ever since i gained it back after finding too many good vegan foods, its only been from diet and exercise that ive lost any now.
tigerlily, i agree, being vegan, its really alot easier to maintain than if we were omni.

i lost 10 pounds when i first went vegan and then lost about another 10 pounds last year. so in total since being vegan i've lost about 20 pounds/9kilos.

I've gained weight since going vegan! While I was still lacto-ovo I lost 70 lbs in just over a year. Whew. Over the past two years I've slowly gained back about 15 lbs. My BMI is right in the middle of the healthy range, but I'd certainly like to fit back into all my clothes
I watched a snippet of an old Oprah show yesterday and they had a man on there who had lost 500lbs!!!!!!!! (OK, so he wasn't vegan, as far as I know, and not on VF but I thought that was amazing. Also amazing that he needed to lose so much weight in the first place!!!)

Hello all, I am new here and I am bumping this thread because I have recently gone vegan (a bit over a week ago) and I have lost roughly 4 pounds. I just feel much healthier. My skin looks better too.
I can't really say...my weight yo yos! I've lost weight then gained it again now I'm losing it again (probably not a good thing as my BMI was 20 before I started losing...but I'm going through a bit of a down period and I can't eat when I dont fel good..) but probably the most i've lost since being vegan is 6-7kilos

since my heighest i've lost about 60 pounds. (but since my weight flucuates a bit it's more like 50-70 lol). but that was before i was vegan. it hasn't really affected me. but then again, when i was an omni i rarely ate meat, but i was a sucker for ice cream, cheese, etc. so who knows? lol.

That's the same with me. I've been getting a little pudge pudge lately...but I need to start excercising and eating less. I eat healthy but I'm just eating way to much I guess.
i've lost about 15lbs since going vegetarian [about a year and a half ago.]
but i haven't noticed any difference since going vegan because i haven't been vegan long enough.

Is this a poll for all vegans regardles of weight goals, or just those who started trying to loose weight at the same time as their transition from omni to vegan? Or heck, is it for long time vegans who gained weight and want to take off some pounds?
I'm asking because I do know my wife wants to loose weight, but that's 12 years into the vegan thing after gaining weight in the intervening years... and also because I gained 5 lbs recently, but most of it is muscle as I'm weight lifting and eating a lot more on purpose right now.
