I am doing a presentation tomorrow on the Food Pyramid and the evolution of the Food Pyramid tomorrow in my Public Health class - about all the Food Politics that go into it, the USDA and the stronghold that the meat and dairy industry has over it etc. I came accross this link from the PCRM's website and I didn't realize how strongly they encourage a vegetarian and vegan diet and have really fought the USDA to include more information on vegetarian and vegan diets specifically into the dietary guidelines. also they sued the USDA and won in 2000. thought that was interesting bc I had never heard that!

Oh, PCRM is great, Wishin! I managed to get a copy of one of Dr Barnard's books signed when he was in town last month.

So I gave my presentation today on the Evolution of the Food Pyramid and the meat and dairy industries ties to the USDA and control over the food guidelines and everyone in the class was shocked! they really liked it!
