'UCLA Student Tased Repeatedly'

It is a student in the UCLA library. He was racially profiled and he was asked for his ID, when he didn't have it they started to taze him! A student snuck and recorded the whole thing on his cell phone. They ended up tazing him 6 times!!!! It is hard to see, but the screams are so horrifying. I am deeply disturbed by this!

I wish I hadn't watched it, I feel sick now. People often describe barbaric behaviour by saying 'They acted like animals', I always say, 'No, they acted like humans'. Human beings are the most barbaric beings on this planet.

It's very worrying that our governments and therefore law enforcement agencies seem to think that "anything goes" under the banner of terrorism. Take the UK for example - holding people indefinitely without trial just because they are suspected of being linked with terrorist acts (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's very sad, and very frightening. I am shocked that no-one on the University staff intervened to stop their despicable treatment of this student.

It's just that everyone on earth thinks that the nazis just disappeared after Hitler lost power. They moved locations, they didn't disappear. It is an insidious regime. Nationilized socialism exists. When taxpayers subsidize the meat and dairy industry, this is nationalized socialism. When our taxes pay for Walmart's worker's welfare checks(because the corporation refuses to pay a living wage) and Walmart's worker's medical benefits, we are a country of nationalized socialism. It's here and I have old friends that are Nazis even though they don't think they are. Their actions prove they are, but they think they are good people while they support the modern "hitler". It is brother against brother here, this country has never been so divided! It reminds me of east and west germany.

I know!!!! I was screaming when I watched it! I would have been screaming at them, nobody did a thing! Insane! People drink milk filled with fear hormones, I think that is why everyone is too afraid to do anything.

To be hounest, i was kinda giggling at that video. I'm not easyly shocked and found the guys "fight the power" outbursts quite amusing.

Though if i was actually there i wouldn't have thought twice about stepping in. I usually end up getting injured aswell though when i step in when i see things that are out of order, but i think it's as wrong to stand back and let something happen as it is to actually be the person commiting the thing that is viewed as wrong.

Most people are too self centered though i guess.

My boyfriend used to be a security guard and has gotten tased before. Apparantly it feels like your skin is being pulled off and you are unable to move. Your nerves feel totally fried. So the police asking that guy to "stand up" sounds quite absurd. How can he when he's unable to move?

I talk to a guy on another forum who goes to UCLA and actually knows the guy.

He said he has a mental imbalance and is prone to violence and random rulebreaking, and was being very uncooperative and belligerent with the police, and that he got what was coming to him, and from what I've seen, I tend to agree.

I'm sort of confused. How can you be vegan yet approve of such horrible treatment on humans?

Humans are mammals so wanting pain to come upon someone because they may be mentally ill is not a vegan sentiment.

Someone contacted us and suggested that this post ('You'r stupid') was a personal attack.... while we prefer that people focus on opinions and not people (eg. one could write 'That's stupid' instead of 'You're stupid'...), I think what some of you point out is more important: using pain as a 'teacher' isn't at all vegan.

Pilaf I don't think the student necessarily acted in the right way, but that still does not give those police officers the right to treat them the way they did. If he has a history of mental illness then all the more so. And "pain is an excellent teacher"? We have no "right" to inflict pain on others, be it humans or animals.

I also just read in the news that it was the cop, not the student, that had a violent record (with a homeless man).
