Look at it as an opportunity to start a group yourself, I am sure there are lots of other people in your area who want one but if no-one takes the initiative it won't happen.

Opps, that's me! The last meeting was yesterday at the George Pub, trafalgar st.
Next one in two weeks, so Mon 13 Dec 8.30 (hopefully more buggers than yesterday will show up!). Then every fortnight after.
Have a look at http://www.furfree.info/ as that's a local project too (in case you didn't guess I'm the "Mr P" who wrote about the Brighton demo).
We should be doing a stall in town Sat too I'll PM you my mobile, if you like & if you're about you could give me a ring & join in the fun .
I must admit with college & everything I haven't updated the BARC site for a while now

Are there any vegans or vegetarians on here in the area around Feltham, Kingston or Twickenham? Please post back if you live around there as we are moving from Harrow to Hampton very soon and would like some like-minded chums in the area. I intend to try and start some vegan social gatherings soon after we move there.

Have your own easy to use Free Vegan Web site

Does your local veg*an group need a website? Don't you have the time or the knowledge to write one from scratch? Maybe you can't afford one. Is your current site too hard to update or does it lack the features you need? Then Local Veggie Web is for you, a website building and maintenance tool designed especially for those who run local veg*an groups. Free to use, nothing to install, many features and a doddle to use. See www.lvw.makessense.co.uk

First Ever Vegan Guide to Rutland Launched!

Rutland may be the UK's smallest county but it certainly isn't the UK's biggest nightmare as far as vegetarian and vegan catering goes! The first edition of Vegetarian Rutland and Surrounding Areas is an indispensable guide to cafés, restaurants, pubs, accommodation, health food shops and miscellaneous businesses in and around Rutland that cater for vegetarians and vegans.

The guide has been thoroughly researched and compiled by Sam McCreesh, a 15 year old vegan and Vegetarian Society youth contact for the region. It's available online at www.vegetarianrutland.co.uk and also in print by post

How come there are so many vegans in Bristol? Couldn't a few of you move up North to balance out the numbers!? I feel all on my own here in Cumbria.

    Hi Cherry,

I think Blackpool Vegans sometimes get as far as Cumbria, and aren't so far away from you:

    http://www.blackpoolvegans.makessense.co.uk

I bet there are lots nearer you too, you just don't know they are there. How about setting up a local group, starting with a website of info to attract them? Running a group is surprisingly easy with Internet access, all you have to do is set a date and venue and ask people to email you if they are coming (that's what we do at http://www.tvvvs.makessense.co.uk )

Free veggie websites with no technical ability necessary at:
    http://www.lvw.makessense.co.uk

    (Vegan Bristol uses LVW too)

    Hi Cherry,

Good luck with arranging your own thing. If you want to become a Vegan Society Local Contact, or just use some of the ideas aimed at them, see the developing website:
    http://www.lcat.makessense.co.uk/

we'll be putting some stuff there on the basics of setting up a local group.

    Sophie

PS. I had a look at your recipes at your parselysoup site - they look lovely! Couldn't see the kids recipes though - I believe the file needs a .htm or .html extension, which the others have.

    Default Vegan Penrith!

    Hi again

You know it hadn't crossed my mind before that I could become a vegan contact person. Thanks for the inspiration.

Yes, I'm having a few teething problems transferring website to new software. Quite large portions of it don't work properly, but hopefully it'll be all new and shiny very soon. Summer holidays coming up next week so will be able to spend some time on it.

lovely you might think of becoming a local contact. We'd love you to share your cookery expertise, maybe on the L-CAT website or with a demo! And we can support you in growing a local group.

Don't suppose there are any groups in Kent (particularly Maidstone/Medway area). Although it would seem to be number of veg*ns is inversely proportionate to the number of Chavs , so I'd guess there are very few veg*ns round here.

Rob, the Vegan Society has several local contacts listed for Kent - see http://www.vegansociety.com/html/abo...ts/england.php . This doesn't mean there are groups, but you could ask them.

    Vegan Guide to Wales

We have just produced our latest 'Eat Out Vegan Wales' guide. It is a free guide to places vegans can eat out in Wales. We have around 130 restaurants, cafes, take-aways, B&B and hotels which serve vegan food. To our knowledge this makes it the largest vegan guide outside London.

It is updated every month so if anybody wants a copy please e-mail us with a postal address. If anyone has information on anywhere providing vegan food in Wales please e-mail us. eatoutveganwales@yahoo.co.uk

There were nine of us. We partook of the vegan food, had some lively debates, and are all descending upon an unsuspecting Sittingbourne for a demo in a few weeks.
