    Thanks Helen & Emzy

Quick CD update - 100 copies now sold, raising over £1000 for the animals

Here are a few quotes from people who have reviewed the album:

Music Reviewer Ivan Melgar-Morey writes: Martin's work on the keyboards is simply impeccable, even more impressive when you notice that YAK is a trio with Dave Speight in the drums and Gary Bennett in the bass, so Martin has to synthesize the missing guitars, flutes and other instruments , and his use of Mellotron is delightful, reminding me of GENESIS early albums.

Music Reviewer Olav Martin Bjørnsen writes: I suspect quite a few fans of symphonic rock will view this as one of the better releases of 2008.

Derek Wales - a serious music fan says: "The new album is absolutely superb! From start to end, Prog Rock at its best. Well done to you and the guy's for producing such a great CD."

Joe Shingler who writes reviews for Prognaut says ..."You guys are absolutely phenomenal ...easily my favorite MySpace discovery."

Nick May of 'Whimwise' - former guitarist with 'the ENID' says: "I bought this the other day , at some gig or other . Very tasteful atmospheres . - Great stuff!!"

You can order your copy at http://www.yaksongs.com/joty4.html and please remember that the suggested £10 donation is only a suggested donation - if you want to donate less or more that's up to you - every penny goes to the animals as I am covering the postage & packing myself. If you live on Mars however I reserve the right to reconsider the p & p eheh

At the Sanctuary, last months feed bill was a wacking £5700. On top we had to have a Dog operated on to remove a tumor in his mouth (£450) plus we have taken another old German Shepherd plus an emaciated & blind Sharpei who we have called Vladimir.

Please think about supporting Fiona through sponsorship of the rescued animals - it's a simple as completing this form http://www.towerhillstables.com/standingorder.html for whatever amount you would like to donate a month - even a pound will help.

As with the CD donations, all funds donated go 100% to the animals feed costs, nothing is deducted to pay staff (there aren't any) pay for vehicles, uniforms, rent, admin, expenses, etcetera, ectetera, ectetera !

Thanks to all here who already support Fiona - Happy Christmas !

    Hi Satsuma !

Thank you very much for helping Fiona, your support is very much appreciated.

I was off work yesterday as the A12 was a disaster, so I helped Fiona with the jobs. I uploaded 2 new videos to the tower hill stables group on facebook - one of the horses in the snow & one of the Degus on their wheel & building a nest !

If you are on there, just go to groups & search for "tower hill stables"

I'll upload them to youtube when I get a mo

    Cheers

As you may know if you are part of the Tower Hill Stables Sanctuary Group on Facebook we have launched an appeal to try & raise funds to cover our overdue feed account as we owe over £8500 - clearly this is on top of finding the money for the monthly feed bills on an ongoing basis - as well as vets fees & funds for the projects listed on the projects page.

All in all we are in a very difficult spot as unless we can raise the funds and/or increase membership of the Sanctuary, the future is not looking good for the gang.

Since the Facebook appeal was launched 2 days ago the Sanctuary has received £560 in donations towards the outstanding costs which is fabulous news, plus a new member has joined to support the ongoing costs which is also brilliant news.

To show people a little more about the work Fiona does with the animals here I have created a new video which is some 9 minutes long ! It's a short film really ! - I have set it to original music too & it shows many of the rescued animals at the Sanctuary as well as showing people the work that Fiona does herself directly with the Sanctuary i.e. the daily care of of 400 rescues with no staff Plus the incredible athletic achievements Fiona has realised - bear in mind she has a knee replacement too.

It took several attempts to load to Youtube as the file was 216meg ! - I can't currently persuade Facebook to load it though !

Please do have a look, and watch it in 'full screen' mode. (button in bottom right of video image screen - 2nd from the extreme right)

The soundtrack is by me & is being sold to raise funds for the animals - Over 500 CD's sold so far worldwide - details at the end of the video

    Here is the link http://www.towerhillstables.com/FeedAppeal.html

    All best wishes

Fiona won the Santa Claus Marathon in Lapland on Saturday setting a new course record by taking 11 & a half minutes off the old one set by a French woman last year.

It was a very tough course & Fiona finished in overal 2nd place behind the winning man.

The next lady was 38 minutes down the road !

Fiona was featured in a Finnish national newspaper wearing her Vegan Runners top & is now the official Champion of Lapland - as well as setting the fastest female marathon time ever inside the Arctic Circle - pretty cool huh?

The race was not announced on the Tower Hill website as following the last few months of disaster & bad luck, we were not sure that Fiona would be able to compete, however if you wish to sponsor Fiona retrospectively we would be pleased to hear from you.

By paypal to fiona@towerhillstables.com, or by cheque payable to Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary, Asheldham, Essex, CM0 7DZ

As ever, 100% of all donations go towards the feed costs of the 400 rescused animals

    Thank you

This is the latest circular to members and supporters, with info for this weekend.

Just a quick note (in case you missed it on the website) to let you know that all being well, Fiona will be taking part in the Great North Run half marathon next Sunday 19th September.

Fiona is the Captain of Team Vegan who have been set up by the Vegan Society ! - Look out for them on TV in their Vegan Society tops !

Yesterday Fiona received news from the race organisers that she is being allowed to start on the A start of the main race. As an elite runner, Fiona is entitled to set off with the elite ladies who start ahead of the men and the main race, however Fiona wanted to be in the "main race" with the rest of her team. The race organisers have said that she can line up with the best of the men on the A start, right at the front where she will be the only lady - so that should be good for press & publicity - Better still, she will be lining up alongside her athletic hero and current World marathon champion Haile Gebreselassi - which she is very excited about ! (...very excited indeed in fact!)

Fiona is running to help raise awareness for the Vegan lifestyle choice as well as to help raise funds for the Sanctuary as we head toward another tough Winter.

We have set up a special page where donations can be made by Paypal or by cheque (instructions on the page)

    http://www.towerhillstables.com/GreatNorthRun2010.html

So far £190 has been raised for this event. - Thank you to all who have donated.

Additionally & in case you missed it on the News Page we are delighted to announce a new range of Sanctuary Savings Schemes - see the link below - especially if you are a fan of Percy Bear

    http://www.towerhillstables.com/Investments.html

Thank you for your continued support

    All best wishes

Heres the latest news from the webiste. Please twitter, facebook, myspace etc it. Thanks

Fiona wins the Great North Run !

Fiona was the first lady to finish in the main race in a time of 1 hour 20 minutes odd ! An absolutely fantastic effort. The elite women's race was won by Berhane Adere won the elite womens race which set off earlier than the main race.

Fiona set off with 54,000 runners & was the first lady across the finish line - absolutely blinding performance as she was running with a thigh injury and had had to hang about in the cold & rain for 2 hours at the start of the race as she had to get there early to be interviewed by Radio 5 live.

Frustratingly she wasn't shown on the BBC - despite being the first lady in the main race. She told me this afternoon that she she approached the finish line the crowds were going wild shouting "come on Vegan" etc - but an official stepped out & diverted Fiona off to the right over some grass to finish at an alternate overflow gate where there were no cameras.

She thought they picked her out to run down to that gate because she was the 1st lady & there would be a ribbon to run through... but no, nothing, not a sausage (Vegan of course)

So why would they do that? - Why not let her finish where the main gate was? - where everyone was looking? - I was watching the TV & saw the cameras tracking Liz McColgan as she finished in 7th place & 1 hr 25 - 5 minutes behind Fiona, but no cameras on Fiona

Do they not want to see a Vegan winning? - Wrong message for the public perhaps??

    Makes you wonder doesn't it

You can still sponsor her on the link below - many thanks !!

The Sanctuary has two excellent books to sell to raise funds for the animals. They are both by Vernon Coleman and one is Animal Miscellany & the other is Animal Exeriments - simple truths.

I have set up a page on the Sanctuary website where you can see more details. Both books going for a donation of £7.50 + £2.50 p & phttp://www.towerhillstables.com/VernonColeman.html

This is a duplicate of my facebook post, apologies to those who have seen it there:

This vegan athlete [i.e. Fiona] has apparently just completed a 154 mile run across the Sahara in 6 days with 2 broken toes (a horse trod on her foot). If anyone has a few bob to spare please consider supporting her. She is raising money for a medical charity, Facing Africa, and is short of her target. (She is also raising money for the Vegan Society and her animal sanctuary, but I gather they need to raise the money for Facing Africa first otherwise she will have to fork out herself).

    http://www.towerhillstables.com/MdS2012.html

I though there was a posting about her participation in this event, the Marathon des Sables, here already but I can't find it. Hope nobody objects to this post - I don't have anything to do with Tower Hill Stables myself but thought people might like to know about it.

Fiona (and Martin) are an inspiration. Shame I missed the talk in Bristol, maybe next year.

Love to see pic updates of all the animals, like Hannah.
