Not sure if anyone would be interested in these but Tesco are selling mince pies in their free from range. From what I saw and read I am sure they would be vegan.

Sainsbury's value mince pies (40p for 6) are vegan and labelled so. I've eaten about 10 packs since they were released a month or so ago
Lucky ducks!!
My local organic market is selling "vegetarian" mince pies.....but I can only think that they must be "vegetarian" because they don't have any geletin in them. They contain eggs and dairy.......so they're not even close to being vegan, unfortunately
traditional mincemeat has non-vegetable suet in.

Oh ok. Thanks for that
I wish they would make vegan ones.
Sainsburys has AMAZING iced topped mince pies, but as yet they haven't appeared this year
I'm going to cry if they don't do them!
I think i must be the only person in the world who can't stand mince pies, haha.
Im not that keen on them - not shop brought ones, I like to make my own mincemeat with ammereto in, and apple and make filo pastry ones as i hate normal pastry!
Its nice to do a mincemeat tart with almonds and marzipan too, got a recipe from a vegan book last year.
Im told Asda mince pies are vegan too
Your tart sounds nice. Could you share the recipe please?
Have put note to find recipe! Off to work now then out tonight so wont be til tomorrow
More for me then
I like mince pies in moderation - I usually make my own by getting a jar of Sainsbury's mincemeat then adding grated apple, rum and maybe orange zest
If I'm feeling greedy/lazy I'll do them in store-bought puff pastry, but it's pretty quick to whip up a normal shortcrust sweet pastry too.
Found that recipe its from a great little book called meals without squeals!

Yum. Im gonna make that today along with a fab boozy fruit cake recipe I got from vegan society
Thanks
Mince pies everywhere. I need to try one!
Here is a link to a vegan recipe that the Vegetarian Society has:

Make some, Painter Lady Go on, I dare you!
What other kinds of mince pies are out there? I'm not sure I would like this kind.
I think it would be fine without the marzipan? Could add more flaked almonds, cant think of any alternatives at the mo, but am sure a layer of sliced banana or other fruit could be nice?
Thanks Alisont! I think I will try with some Apple for the base
Hmmm... maybe red on the bottom, green on the top
