    Default Cookery classes in UK?

Hey all, i love cooking, i do lots of vegan recipes and experiment however, alot of books its hard to know if they are any good and even then you don't know how they are meant to turn out. I would love to take cookery classes so i could work out how to cook from scratch as a vegan, as opposed to cooking vegan food in a non vegan way. Does anybody know where i could get such classes?

Where do you live, what's your budget and what's your current experience level with non vegan food?

    Hi David,
I just received the magazine from Alliance Végétarienne here in France. There are courses by Valérie Cupillard at www.biogourmand.com
She does some good simple vegan recipes and they are popular here. I'm not sure if she speaks English. If ever you were wanting to combine it with a holiday it might be good. I haven't checked it out yet but thought I would pass the info. on.

Yeah, I'd be interested too - I'm not a particularly good cook, but I'm getting mixed results with some of the vegan books. Don't know if it's me, or the book

I'm in the South East though.

The people who run the chain of mostly vegan chinese buffets in London (Joi, Tai etc) used to do free vegan chinese cookery classes on Sundays in the basement of Joi on Percy Street (just off tottenham court road). I never went and don't know if they still do them, but may be worth enquiring about if you're interested.

I am thinking of possibly inquiring at my local vegi restraunt as to whether they do any kind of training, or even asking the cheif where they got their training.

Originally i looked at the cordon vert but they don't seem to be taking people without restraunt background, which is unhelpful because surely people wanting vegi restraunt training will not want to do normal training before hand (unless they don't mind handling meat and such), and those who get training without using meat probably wouldnt want extra training anyway.

One of the vegetarian society's key goals is educating commercial food providers so they can offer more vegetarian choices, so I'm not suprised about courdon vert.

If you fancy a weekend away there's demuths in bath, thou I don't know if they have any courses that are exclusively vegan.

I don't think you need classes, just a good vegan buddy who's willing to help out. Or get some cookery books with basic recipes (I'd recommend Rose Elliot if you're in the UK and new to cooking) and I'm sure your cooking will improve.
