This is hilarious!
Last night, against my better judgement, I accompanied some friends to T.G.I. Friday's. I had been reading up on what some of my options would be, and found that the only things that I would be able to eat were a side salad (no cheese, no croutons, no dressing), steamed vegetables, and a plain baked potato. I decided that the steamed veggies and tater would be my best bet, so when the waitress came to take our order, I told her I wanted the steamed veggies and a tater. She told me that they didn't have baked potatos (like they don't have a potato in the kitchen that has escaped being made into cheesy mashed taters that they can throw in the oven!), so I told her that I would just go with the veggies.
Apparently alarmed that I wasn't ordering more, she looked at me with this pitiful look and asked if that was all that I wanted. I told her that I was vegan and that there wasn't really anything else on the menu that I could eat. She then cheerfully informed me that they had a Turkeyburger! Being the smartass that I am, I told her that turkey was not a vegetable. She said, "Oh, I thought you said 'vegetarian.'"
So, just to let you all know, some people in the restaurant industry are apparently under the impression that turkey grows on plants.
