roald dahl is also one of my faves. i really like "the witches" - it's GOOD. i want the whole collection of roald dahl books. only have matilda and the witches. and it's translated into danish, which basically sucks. but hopefulle soon i'll buy them all, so i can read them for my kids, when i grow up.
i really like a danish book called "rottedrengen" - translated: "the rat boy" . it's about a boy, who used to be a rat, and then when he tells people about it, they use him as a freakshow in a cirkus, and some scientists keep him in a cage, just to take tests. but there are some people, who takes care of him. don't remember how it ends, but it has a good ending.. it's a really good book.
I also loved Winnie-the-Pooh and everything by A. A Milne. The Borrowers, Emile and the Detectives, Grimble.
Can't remember if I already mentioned this one, but I used to LOVE "Heidi", the fully illustrated kids' version . I read it so many times that I was reading the next page of the book in my head before I even turned the page lol.

My kids also loved the "Tackylocks" books by Helen Lester. They're hilarious!
"Turtle's flying lesson" I don't know who the author is and I am too lazy to run upstairs and look. I have the book now, I found it a couple years ago at a used bookstore in my town. I decided that I was going to look high and low for it and would have paid up to $40.00 for it. It was worth a lot in my mind. I ended up finding it after about 15 minutes of looking and it only cost me $8.00. I was most pleased w/ my find.
my favourite book, well, really story was *the happy prince* from oscar wilde.
i also enjoyed *coppelia* a lot
