Most of the Heinz variety here in Canada are vegan, and I would think it would be the same where you are. There are a couple however, that contain lard or pork, but those are clearly marked.

I'm yet to find any that aren't vegan, I expect there are some though.

All baked beans taste pretty much the same to me, do you find heinz better than others?

The mexican ones aren't. My mum cooked some for me and didn't read the label. I only saw the ingredients after I'd eaten them .

I'm sure at least one of the spiced ones is vegan, for the mexican ones you could probably just get a tin of regular baked beans and pour in a bit of old el paso spice mix, it would probably taste similar, I've not tried it though so wouldn't really know.

Yes, I'd heard that too. Not that I'd choose to eat there anyway but if they made their beans vegan at least if we were desperate we could have baked potato and beans

I think most of them are fine, Hemlock, like the supermarket brands. The HP ones have worcester sauce (anchovies!) in them, yuck. I ate some by accident once - they weren't very nice either.

Yeah - worcester sauce is soooo 1987 !

I like the "Whole Earth" organic ones. Just a bit spicey - with cinnamon. mmmm.

I thought at least one major brand of baked beans (was it Crosse and Blackwell?) contained cheese powder - not sure if it still does.

I like Organinc beans as well but when I am not flush the following in order of £ in the pocket work for me.
TESCO Beans about 30p a tin
Sainsbury and ASDA Budget Brand Beans About 20p a tin

I have emailed and got answers back that all are vegan this was in Dec 06, Sainsburys list them online and do ASDA, apparently TESCO list online but I could not find it so I phoned them then they emailed me back two days later.

Here are a couple of my favourite baked beans recipes which I do when I can't be bothered to cook:
Frozen spinach (microwaved) with some margarine added to bring out the flavour; baked beans, and Taifun Tofu Fillet with fried mushroom and fried tomato.
Baked beans and Frozen spinach on fried Bird's Eye Potato Waffles.
