No they didn't. They're probably just too lazy. So if we make it more work for them to NOT make a list, then they will probably make one.

Just got back from our local morrisons in Seaford...
A tad hungry, so I thought I'd get myself one of those Aloo Gobi Saag things you stick in the microwave.

I looked at the packet and it said 'contains Milk' - I thought that can't be right... I looked at the ingredients. There's no cream, no lactic acid, no milk whatsoever... however, it's got Coconut Milk in it.

Because of that, it's not been labelled as Vegan.

Next, went for a packet of Veggie samosas, Asda's don't contain milk but Morrisons ones do. so I went to the deli counter and got a load of Tomato and Chilli Pakoras, which just said 'contains preservative'. I asked at the counter if they were vegan but the bloke there wasn't too sure.

I may have to write to customer services and get them to sort their labelling out as that's a bit pathetic. Ever since Hemlock became vegan, I've got used to looking at ingredients in supermarkets when we're food shopping.

Corum, I'd be surprised if it was vegan:

Sag is spinach. Paneer is cheese! Aloo is potato.

[edit: Sag is spinach. Dal is lentils or pulses]

Doh! hang on... retrieves packet from the bin...

note to self... read packet before sticking foot in mouth...
Should have read and will edit to say...

That's better. Gobi is cauliflower. Another concern, at least with Indian and Pakistani food here where I live, is "ghee" (clarified butter). I find that to be in many if not most dishes here.

Also bread, such as plain old naan, usually contains yogurt! (At least the packaged stuff here does.)

Looks yummy! If you don't see any milk products like whey, casein, ghee, lactose, etc. in the ingredients, it may just be an allergen alert, because they use the same mixing apparatus to make a milk food derived product. Most of us consider that OK, "vegan wise", I know I do. I'd say go for it.

You're welcome. Also, I've mentioned this before on the forum, all white Fetzer wine is vegan. Also, Kumala do two vegan wines - the organic red and the organic white. I'm not sure if Morrisons stock those.

I tried some of morrisons garlic and onion hummus yesterday, it was horrible as it had loads of sugar in it, you might as well put golden syrup on your salad.

Morrisons Organic Tomato Soup is definitely Vegan - it has rice flour instead of milk to thicken it and it tastes better than the Heinz non-vegan equivalent!

Hemlock, there is such a thing! I've never seen it in an ordinary supermarket but there's a health food store here which sells organic vegan stuffed pasta made by a company called Biona:

You can also get hold of it online at: http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-...il/402355.html

It's delicious, especially when cooked in a rich tomato sauce

As for the vegan ravioli, I'll definately be on the look-out for this on my next trip to Morrisons..

I can't go in Morrissons, the one around Bristol has the fish counter RIGHT inside the door! Bleuch, disgusting, can't stomach it, it's rancid I tell you.

The few times I've been there I've heard other people loudly commenting on the stink, can't just be veggies offended by it?

Is it common siting by Morrisons, or is the stench counter at the back in other stores?

Tried shopping in Sainsbury's at the weekend, Hemlock wanted to make Thai curry.

We couldn't find much of anything there so we went back to our old faithful Morrisons and bought the lot - 30% cheaper than what we could buy at Sainsbury's.

as an aside... I've been shopping at Morrisons for ... the best part of my life (since when I was a nipper, living down the road from the one in Halifax! - yorkshire that is )

Since the one in Eastbourne got bought out by Waitrose, the old dears who used to shop there are all catching the bus to Seaford as it's much cheaper.

The Morrisons in Leicester smelt (maybe still smells) so bad and they had random coolers full of meat everywhere, I just stopped going in the end. It smelt like chicken poo in there sometimes. I think they didn't clean the freezers propery or something. Haven't been there in a couple of years now, and it's a shame because it was the nearest food shop near my house, but I just couldn't stomach it any longer.

We usually do all our shopping in Morrisons and the local farm shop. This month we went to Asda instead and got a huge shop for £27. They had a big promotion on 5 for £1 on tins of beans, tomatoes etc. We've got enough staple food to last us a month!!!!

Looks like Morrisons 'Better for you' reduced fat salad cream is vegan.

Ingredients: Water, malt vinegar, sunflower oil, sugar, modified maize starch, mustard flour, salt, stabilisers (E435, xanthan gum, guar gum), lemon juice (made from concentrate), spice extracts, colour (Riboflavin), sweetner (saccharin)

    Contains: Gluten, mustard, nuts

    Marked as suitable for vegetarians.

I haven't tried it yet as I was unsure about the E435 (polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate) but I think the fact that it's marked vegetarian means it should be ok.

    Grr..... hisss... !!!

That about sums it up for them. I _really_ can't stand them, and refuse to shop there because every time I tried to find out about vegan stuff, they either had no info, no phone number, no interest, or (more likely) no idea.
Plus, every one I've ever been into was divey, meat-focused, and generally scuzzy. They also seem to be one of the old-school get-cheap-stuff-and-bugger-the-consequences type shops which I try to avoid.
