Default a vegan kid trying to save the planet

    Hi all,

My son and I thought you would enjoy our video entry into the 'Convenient Truths' contest, which is for 1-2 minute videos about how to stop global warming. Our video, 'A kid, a car, and an idea' is about our yellow Beetle that runs on vegetable oil, and the larger possibilities. The contest website has a lot of great videos, a number of which include food issues, although I don't think anyone specifically made a video about going vegan. I made sure to get a prominent shot of the 'Vegan' bumper sticker on my car as I loaded up the used veggie oil from the restaurant. Maybe next time they hold the competition we can put in our vegan 2 cents.

The URL for the contest is http://truths.treehugger.com/. Enjoy all the videos! If you can't view the video, I also posted it at YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIzrupqFLRI

    Thanks,

Very good! I saw the sticker too.

I didn't quite understand the point about pollution and algae - what's that?

I loved the video! Algae is a kind of a plant/fungus I believe.

Yes, sorry - I meant what was the point about algae producing vegetable oil from pollution? Is that actually feasible?

Algae (singular alga) encompass several groups of relatively simple living aquatic organisms that capture light energy through photosynthesis, using it to convert inorganic substances into organic matter.

    [[Sourced Wikipedia]]

From the last line, It can seen that Algae indeed can convert pollution into vegetable oil.

If you look up the entire section on Wikpedia There is a small section on pollution control but that's partially irrelevant.

The video was great, "If only...
is a phrase I like to use alot.

If only people would listen to seven year olds with great advice.

Default 'A Message for Grownups' video

Here is a video by 8-year-old Carrick, a vegan kid who has some ideas for grownups to get working on, to stop global warming. Among the requests is to (at least) eat less meat and dairy, since it is responsible for more global warming pollution than automobiles. I thought people here might enjoy it:

Also, this other video by Carrick was just picked as one of the winners of the MSN/Treehugger video contest, about why to make the switch to using reel mowers:

Cute video. It's hard to envision the impact of global warming when it looks SO cold there.
