The continual reappearance of this thread is making me think I should go and buy an ice-cream maker

if anyone's around the manchester area i noticed today that 8th day health food shop have the entire range in their freezer!i was so tempted but very sadly being a very skint student felt i really couldn't justify the cost right now .one day soon though!

i looked in two shops today, and neither had the chocolate flavour. one shop (Sunny Foods) had all the others, and Infinity had all the others except maple pecan. having actually seen the size of the tubs, and considering i'd most likely be disappointed, i decided not to bother.
i do like the fact that the vanilla flavour is called Vanilla M'Gorilla (whatever that means!) but i'm not paying £5 for a tiny bit of vanilla ice cream.

Heh, every time I see or hear the word 'gorilla' I think of you, Gorilla
Did you ever see The Mighty Boosh? There's an episode from the first series where they say it a lot

Indeed. It was far, far, far better than the tofutti maple pecan one.
Not compared to other icecreams for eating at home, but we had our tub sitting by a river in cambridge on a hot summer's afternoon (we got it from a healthfood shop and carried on shopping for over half an hour - it really does need to be out of the freezer that long). A pint of beer/cider each would have cost more than that and I know which I'd chooseCherry

Tofutti ice creams are pretty dreadful, IMO.
interesting. apart from the price, one of the reasons i didn't buy any today was because it would've melted before i got it home, but it seems that's actually a good thing. if only we still had the weather for sitting outside eating ice cream *brrrr*
lol. no, i never watched the Mighty Boosh, maybe i shouldtwinkle

The best maple 'ice cream' in the entire world.
Can you get this stuff in the UK? Never seen it in my local area anyway....
Knottykc
Are you referring to Cool Hemp, Knottykc?
If so, I don't think it's available outside Canada, unfortunately.
Make a trip out to our lovely country and try some!
YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried the gorrrrrrrrgeous booja booja chocolate stuff in a tub and i got a rich, dark, delicious, smooth, cold, melting moment that i would be verrrrrrrrrrry keen to have again and again and again and again.... (you get the picture) any time soon......
If i keep a green bough in my heart my singing bird will come.
Look everyone, I have found a healthy alternative to ice cream.
haha. that's so cute!
The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool.
I managed to find the chocolate one in a little deli around these parts. I have had it for 2 months now and i still have half a tub left. Its ok in the tub if you want a quick spoonful but i didnt like it when i sat down and had a bowl full, far to sickly.
I got some vanilla from Fresh and Wild today and think it's great. It's my long term plan to buy and ice cream maker too Twinkle. The fact that this stuff manages to taste so great with only water, cashews, agave and vanilla gives me hope that I may be able to produce something simular.
Ice cream makers are about £20 and you can stick waterever you want in. I assume it wouldn't hurt your Omega oils to freeze like it does to heat so might be a way of getting healthy stuff down you too.
I bought a tub of the Coconut Hullabaloo and I'm very impressed with it. It's a bit pricey at £4.99 so unfortunately I won't be buying it very often.
I like the chocolate one much better than the other one I tried (pecan?) - extremely chocolatey and satisfying. Fortunately, as has already been noted, it's too rich to eat much of at a time...
I'm going to try the chocolate one next, the coconut is half gone already (I only bought it yesterday!). Hopefully as it's so rich it'll last longer. Are there strawberry, raspberry or other fruit flavours?
I think the ginger is pretty good...
More importnat, I finally got to try the chocloate last night and it's everything I'd hoped for - not too fat, not to sweet and VERY choclately in a dark chocloate sort of way, so I'm a happy bunny even if it is with a slimmer purse...
Hi, does anyone know if Booja-Booja ‘Stuff in a Tub’ can be bought somewhere ^ the south coast between Bournemouth and Seaton?
My first tub I bought in Yeovil (Ceres), but it's too far away...
We bought some in one of the health food stores in Bridport this summer (there's 3, it's not the one that sells booze). Ganesha in axminster is generally pretty good, if they don't have it I'm sure you could order it.

If I was you I'd look up health food shops in the area and ring them to ask.

Ganesha in Axminster don't sell it.
But you're right with Bridport--the store is "Naturalife".
"Naturalife" has also a store in Dorchester selling Booja-Booja's Stuff in a Tub.
I called all the other health food shops, but noone else had it.
Not one single shop in Poole/Bournemouth--what a shame.
Naturalife in Crewkerne, Somerset also sells it.
Our Booja-Booja favourite is Vanilla.
We got the information that Vanilla is made with RAW cashews
so the whole product is suitable for raw foodists:
VEGAN, RAW & ORGANIC
This is the first product with these properties!
Regarding the price: Yes it is expensive, but the ingredients are so expensive that you nearly won't be able to produce it by yourself for a lower price.
So IMHO better a really good ice cream from time to time than more often an unhealthy one.
I bought the chocolate one today and it's absolutely lovely! Only complaint is I find it a bit too sweet to sit down and eat a bowl of it but that's a good thing as it'll last longer . Really wanna try the vanilla now.
I've had some of the chocolate one in the freezer for ages now...far far too sickly!
I want to try the others. Maybe they are not so "strong" but I've only ever seen the chocolate and one with gross ginger in it.

i wish I lived close enough to steal that stuff off you, witchy.
does anyone know if i would be able to find this stuff anywhere in the US? it sounds verrry yummy!

I doubt it, but then again your soy ice creams look delish!
I finally tried the maple pecan one. It was nice but I still prefer the chocolate.

Right i've just got hold of the coconut one.. pretty damn nice i reckon, probably my favourite.
And i've tried the vanilla one, nothing special but pretty good.
just polished off another tub of the chocolate. Maybe one of these days I'll try something other than chocolate....
Still not many shops sell it.
Bought one tub (Vanilla) at
Seasons Health food Shop, 8 Well St, Exeter, Devon EX4 6QR.
Still haven't seen it here in VA
it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble
I lurve the maple pecan one...argh, now I want some.
sounds delicious! It looks like it may not be available in the U.S, i'm going to have to write a letter to the whole food stores near by

It seems that Tofutti ice cream is vegan again. I just found some that clearly states on the packaging that it's suitable for veganish types. I got the strawberry one, and for some bizarre reason which I am unable to explain, it's currently in the freezer and not in my belly.
I have the Tofutti, better pecan flavor Stu, it's SO good.
-zee
I tried the coconut booja booja recently, thought it was ok but not something I would by again for the price.
The only tofutti I have tried is the rock-n-roll cones which I didn't really like, is the tub stuff better?
I tried the Coconut last Wednesday. Yum yum hahaha
