I just finished a lovely tea made with cinnamon and loose black tea leaves (which I got in the Middle East). Loose tea is much nicer than mass produced tea bags, I think.

I found it at my day centre place, vanilla rooibos, that is. Unfortunately I have no idea where my day centre place got it from. It was quite nice, it might have been nicer with some soya milk in it, but my day centre is a stupid omni place and they haven't got any .

I LOVE tea...must drink 6-8 mugs of it a day, if not more.

Black teas like irish breakfast, darjeeling, and especially earl grey are my favorite. The stronger the better.

I also like oolong for it's strong flavor and underlying smokiness.

I recently tried dragonwell green for the first time and loved it. It tastes like a black tea. Another favorite green tea is pinhead gunpowder. I love to watch the pellets unfurl into huge leaves in my glass carafe. Another green tea I like is green ginger.

Favorite black teas w/ fruit added are mango ceylon and blackberry sage.

I recently bought some loose kenya black tea that I am going to mix with dried pink rosebuds. I've had black rose tea before and liked it but never brewed my own from loose ingredients.

Favorite caffeine free teas are dekaffe roast by Yogi tea (I'm drinking it right now) and sweet cinnamon spice by Tazo.

Oh, and how could I forget Yerba Mate? Love it. There is also a yerba mate I buy that has cocoa added to it . Very good.

I like chais of all sorts...sometimes I'll add soymilk to those. But I usually just have all my tea straight up.

I could go on forever about tea so I'll stop now. Except to say I recently tried chamomile w/ lavender and earl grey w/ lavender and they were both lovely.

Does anyone know of some actually decent tasting detox-like teas? I've tried some teas that claim to help detox but they were incredibly gross. I'm looking for something that will clean me out etc.

Calming tea is a safe and time-tested Ayurvedic formula designed to ease stress and tension, encouraging a state of relaxed alertness without drowsiness. This healing formula contains Organic Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), an herbal nervine that supports, soothes and rejuvenates the nerves. Known for its mild, apple-like flavor, Chamomile has been used as a calming agent for centuries and is widely regarded for the way in which it helps compose the mind and cool the body. Organic Lemon Grass is also included in this formula, as it is a popular antispasmodic and mild anti-irritant.

Unfortunately, I can't deal with rooibos. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. No idea why. Even the smell of it just about kills me.

I'm hopelessly, shamelessly addicted to jasmine green tea. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever tasted. Aside from that, I mostly drink Earl Grey, Lady Grey, and chamomile (or chamomile blends). I tried a London Fog for the first time tonight, and couldn't believe how amazing it was! And, of course, there's chai. If you've never had a proper chai latte (no tea bags, folks!) you *must* find your way to a quality cafe and give it a try. It'll knock you off your feet.

I feel this way about oolong tea. I bought a packet once and it smelled so strongly of woodsmoke, I had to immedietely put the package on my balcony until I could bag it up and drag it downstairs to the trash.

Default Sun tea info and recipes

This one is for DancingWillow..Feel free to share your own recipes!

Sun Tea-is tea made by exposing tea leaves steeped in water to the direct rays of the sun; usually served with ice. The tea will taste more mellow than what you are used to from using boiling water. The slow seeping has a way of bringing out a slightly different flavor from the tea.

    Fruit-Flavored
Use a combination of fruit flavor tea bags and garnish with fresh raspberries and peach slices. Or add fresh orange peels to your water while steeping.

    Herbal
Fresh herbs also steep well. Add a few ounces of the leaves of your favorite herbs to the water.

    Here is my recipe…

    Raspberry Sun Tea
    6 raspberry-flavored black tea bags
    1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
    4 cups cold water
    12 raspberries, for garnish
    4 mint sprigs, for garnish

    1. Place the tea bags, mint and water in a loosely capped glass container and place it in the sun to steep for 2 to 4 hours, depending on the desired strength of the tea.
    2. Strain the tea into a pitcher, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
    3. When ready to serve, fill 4 tall glasses with ice. Fill the glasses with tea and garnish each glass with a few raspberries and a mint sprig.

    Default Tea and antioxidants?

Not sure if this belongs in this section but I cant figure out where else it could go..

Anyway what does everyone think about tea and its antioxidant benefits? I've read time after time that green tea in particular is rich in antioxidants. I drink green tea and Rooibos tea daily.

    Default Catnip Tea

I've become a tea addict. I drink only herbal teas (since they have no caffeine and no additives). I've come across catnip tea, which intrigues me. Although, I want to make sure that it isn't a caffeinated herb like that of which is used in teas such as green tea. Does anyone know if it does or doesn't have caffeine?

I've never heard of catnip containg caffeine. It is thought to be calming, so I would imagine that it would not. I have heard of it being used to help lessen the cravings of people who are trying to quit nicotine addiction.

Sorry I don't know more than that.
