Hope this helps Billy this is the Pataks vegan range here, although their are some others that are not listed such as popaboms, some breads etc, but all acids etc are animal free and plant based.

As long as the product has Veggie Sign on it and contains no dairy all is safe.

Patak's Curry Paste is on offer for £1 a jar in Asda at the moment.

(The Rogan Josh variety doesn't contain lactic acid so is okay for vegans.)

Last time I checked (admittedly probably a few years ago), Patak's told me that the Lactic Acid was from a non-dairy source - do you know different? I'd better fire off another email to them...!

Thanks for the reassurance - already checked their web site and couldn't find anything, so I've sent them an email anyway. Maybe they'll realise it's worth putting it on the actual jars if we bother them enough

I just checked through my files, and the list I got was last year by email, so I've asked them for an updated one too. I'm not too concerned about it being out-of-date though as I've not seen any of the packaging change or obvious changes to the ingredients of the sauces I buy.

Lactic acid can be produced from sugar beet (and other starches) but I tend to play safe and buy the products that don't list any potentially non-vegan ingredients.

Patak's range includes a selection of products that qualify as "suitable for vegans" but their Rogan Josh Curry Paste is the one I buy most often.

I wondered about the take over too. .Looking at the article though, I see that Mr Pathak is goiing to manage the "World Foods Group" for the buyer. This hopefully will mean he keeps the business as it was. Who knows though :-(
I will definitely be checking with them before I buy any re-packaged or re-formulated products.
