Santa Cruz is my home town. Graduated from Soquel High.
I now live near Chico after I lived out of the state for 10 years. I hope to move back to the actual town of Chico in the next few years.
Oh also, If you live in Northern California, has any one else been to the Farm Sanctuary shelter near Orland? I just went to their "Ho Down" this past Saturday and will attend my third Thanksgiving Celebration For The Turkeys this November.
It's a wonderful place and they have Saturday or special request tours through the warmer months. I'm a member and consider all the animals there my friends. I especially love cows.
Here is a precious cow who lives at Farm Sanctuary:
AWw the cow is cute. I don't really know of any vegan groups here in LA. I don't know where to find them.
I'm a student here in San Diego, but moving back to LA when I graduate in June. Hope to find lots of vegan love there!!! And yummy food too =)
I'm in Ventura!! its really close to Santa Barbara and about an hour away from LA, its a cute little beach town! I havn't really met a lot of vegans but there are a lot of Vegetarians, and health concious people. There is one vegan restaurant though...havn't tried it yet.
see! look at all these LA area vegans! im only 3 hours away.
we should have a meetup!!!

Are you by any chance going to the Animal Rights conference in mid July? I know a lot of us vegans plan on being there for great exhibits, presentations, VEGAN FOOD, and vegan love =) And if you didn't know about it already...

P.S.- To all California and West coast vegans, tell one and tell all about this amazing event!! I've never been before, but looks like a good time =)
ive been thinking about it.. and i think i may have just talked my (dietary) vegan roomate into going with me .
ill see.... im not good at planing that far in advance!

There's a way cool restaurant in Santa Barbara that's vegan friendly. There's a chance I'll be moving there. There's not much of a surfing scene in Nebraska.
There is another animal sanctuary in NorCal called Animal Place in Vacaville. http://www.animalplace.orgHas anyone been? I would really love to visit and maybe even volunteer on the weekends. Gimme feedback.
i was actually just made aware of the vacaville sanctuary at AR07.
its so wierd cause i was born there and its such an unveganfriendly place!

Thanks for telling me about Animal Place. I had never heard of it. I have saved their web site and will look through it further. The light colored cow they have is beautiful.

Wow! I looked at that website, just coz I'm a busy body lol, but that is THE most largest vegan selections I have EVER seen at a Thai restaurant! You're so lucky!
I live in Garden Grove..Orange County, but I've never met another vegan! how sad..
I live in Berkeley which is awesome for vegans, but I'm going to college in Los Angeles. i have to say that so far it SUCKS. esp. since i'm in south central/downtown, its very very far away from any health food stores and I don't have a car or anything.

jjdaiquiri, I wish I knew a vegan ink tattoo shop in CA but I don't so I'm probably no help. But, If you ever visit Victoria, B.C. you can go to the tattoo shop owned by Sarah Kramer and her husband. She is one of the authors of How It All Vegan and In the Garden of Vegan. you can see her website at govegan.com. Sorry I can't be of more help for local shops. But go to Victoria, it's fucking beautiful.

I hope that you Californians are safe and far away from the fires we have been hearing about.
my parents' house almost burned... but luckily the winds changed direction. fortunately the worst i have to deal with is not being able to run outside because of the ashy air.
Take care! It must be frightening. I'm glad the winds are changing. I hope the will calm down tonight.
hi, i also hope all the fires burn out before friday. I hear that there's some more Santa Anas on the way so I hope all you SoCaler's bunker down and water your houses.
We're all behind you. I hope everyone is safe and doing well in the central and so cal areas. Good Luck!

I live in O.C and its getting easier to find Vegan restaurants. There might not be many but the ones that around here are pretty darn good. I also do not come in contact with many vegan people. So if anyone is local I may be able to show you around.
I have one vegan restarant where I live. its really yummy.
