can someone please help me to understand the probably very simplistic technique to putting a bunch of photos onto facebook from photobucket.

over the last coupld of years i've accumulated a bunch of photos of vegan nosh..buns and lentil glop and the like..some of which i've put on threads here, but they are lurking so i thought i'd put them together into an album and bung them onto facebook for people to look at..or something.

so, on facebook i see how to make an album, how to upload photos from hard drive thing, or use a webcam and to create an album..but i can;t fathom how to get an already created album from photobucket onto facebook. am i being exceptionally dimwitted?? there is a box on photobucket with an url thingy..so i can right click and copy that..then...where do i paste it?! it's doing my head in that it's probably so simple..err.

thanks if anyone can help, kind of thing

Is it only me or is it weird and even rude not to accept a person that you know from before on facebook - unless: 1, they've been nasty to you. 2, you only want to keep close friends on there and not distant people from the past or internet friends (I've rejected a few people on this ground). 3, you have a rule not to "re-friend" ex lovers.

Sure, one is free to do add or reject whomever, but I think not accepting perfectly nice peoples friends request can potentially cause tension in real life - FB is not separate from anything else thats going on and it actually do reflect quite a bit on how we feel about people. I don't have much experience yet because I haven't been on that long, but I'm a bit shocked about the comment I've heard about not wanting someone on their page...

I think that if you don't feel comfortable accepting a friend request, that you shouldn't have to feel pressured into doing it.

I personally only reject because of the reasons I mentioned (and I do give a small explanation in a message if I know them... I don't want 300 "friends" on there). I don't feel comfortable rejecting someone because they're not cool enough or are horrible spellers like I've heard some do. I guess people have different rules. Maybe I'm too polite and need to get a hang of it...

Kriz, I agree about FB possibly creating real life tension.

I have a few people from a recent high school reunion on my Friends List, but I really don't want them there. I never speak with them and am not really sure why they sent me a Friend Request. However, I accepted them because we have mutual friends and may run into each other again at some point. I feel pressured to keep them.

When my BIL started his FB page, he and I were on each others' lists. Then he started reconnecting with a couple of old girlfriends, and pretty soon I found myself "un-friended"! At first, I was a little insulted. Then I realized he may be flirting a bit, doing things perhaps he doesn't want me to see (he's married), so I just chalked it up to him being an idiot again. As with most things regarding him, it's better I don't know the details.

Funny how something like FB that starts out so silly and fun ends up creating just a little complication. It's a good example of the law of unintended consequences.

I accept most people on facebook, if I know them, have met then (and liked them) or been in contact with them in some way such as this forum.

facebook IS for my friends though, I'm no "collector" is a great way of keeping back with people "back home" and networking with new people you meet.

My last manager added all his staff on facebook, but i absolutely refused to accept that. That's totally spying on your staff. plus that i want to be able to bitch about work, should i feel like it, without getting a warning.

Heh. I have former high school classmates who clutter up my page with updates like:

    "Just painted the bathroom!"
    "I'm tired."
    "Got a headache."

That's exactly what I'm talking about... I'm not sure I'll stick around there for long. I started to reconnect with relatives (because I'm moving back to my hometown) and VERY few old friends, but I now feel I created unwanted drama in my head.... I'm getting into who knows who. And looking at old classmates and exes depresses me.... I don't have to do it, I know, but it's unavoidable if you even befriend one person from the past.... it has a domino effect! I was happier before I knew all this -ignorance surely is a bliss sometimes!

I'm so tempted to write something crass in my Updates, like "Feeling not so fresh" and "Got a new cream for my rash."

I ignore it. I think I can restrict status updates so I don't have read all that stuff, but I haven't looked into it yet.

Today's dopey status update of the day: "I'm so sweepy." That's right. Not "sleepy," which is bad enough, but..."sweepy." Oy.

At first I was a little shy about sharing the Earthlings trailer. Then I figured if they can take up space typing out crap like "Still at work," then I can share something a bit more thought-provoking.

If I'm only going to write about what I had for breakfast or that I just got a tune-up for my car then I might as well not have a page. I can't get over the fact that EVERYONE on my list will be updated with the most mundane things I might write (hopefully not).... and I don't like to take up someone else's space. I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to use it for.

I liked posting what demos I've been to and music. I like promoting veganism as well. Don't think I've posted loads of crap. I like posting what I've done and that several people can read that instead of repeating myself. I wish more people I'm in contact with were on my friends list. Some people from here didn't accept my friend requests, but I didn't take offence. I think people can be too judgemental. I guess several people have been nasty and taken things the wrong way in the past. Would of been good if they asked me if they were bugged by anything

At first, I thought FB was a huge waste of time ~ couldn't see the value at all.

I've since discovered it's a nice, convenient way to keep track of friends. I like the little blurbs from people I really care about, and I can connect with 5 or 7 of them within a few minutes, which is a lot less time consuming than picking up the phone (a half hour or more on the phone in the middle of the day throws me way off schedule). I've also gotten together 4 times with different groups of friends thanks to the quick networking, which I wouldn't have done otherwise.

The only problem status updates are the ones you'll get from casual acquaintances. After typing my last post to you, however, I went to my FB page and managed to find that magic little button that blocks certain peoples' updates. Whew!

LOL, that "facebook cat" is cute!!

A friend of mine is using her site mostly for activism, posting videos and interesting articles. I think it's great, it has become a routine for me to check out what's happening on her site and in the world. But, of course, I also enjoy to see what my teenage nieces, nephews, and other people close to me are up too as well.

I don't mind the friend updates. It is a social networking site and everyone will use it differently. I do have a couple of friends who overdo it a bit with the quizzes and apps updates, but for the most part it's easy enough to jump over that stuff.

There was a girl from high school that I added, not sure why as we weren't even friends in school, but she had a constant stream of annoying status updates (dozens per day!). At one point I commented on a picture of hers and she actually deleted my comment! I ended up removing her from my friends list, because really whats the point? And then I noticed she made her acct unclickable. I think I hurt her feelings. I just don't understand some people.

Yeah, I agree that you should ignore this. The people on there are incredibly daft and ignorant. You can't really convince a stupid person that he or she is stupid, especially when they are, as this guy is, convinced that they're incredibly clever. His ignorance is not a problem of not being informed; it's ignorance as a general attitude and approach to life. He won't be able to hear you any better than a dead person will.

If it makes you feel any better, it's clear from his grammar and logic that his future prospects are limited, and he'll only ever be respected by the kind of people that you'll NEVER want to be respected by.

If enough people report it ("YOU ARE A EMBARRASSMENT AND DISGRACE TO THE HISTORY OF MANKIND STOP BEING FUCKING STUPID !!!!!!!!!!" is part of the group information), the group will probably be removed?

*reads group description* "Without witch you wouldn't have the choice not to eat it" So... we're supposed to be grateful to witches for vegetarianism? and "So logically u should continue to eat MEAT !!!!!!" By the powdered wig of Samuel Johnson! Anyone who commits a one-man assault upon the English language like that doesn't deserve to use the word "logically." Ever. I'm not wanting to be a grammar National Socialist, but whoever wrote that looks to be either a grade school dropout, or have a blood feud with the language. It is as if his father was killed by a clear antecedent and he's taking it out on every word until he finds the culprit.

Or to put it more simply, as an English major, I want to punch this guy in the face. As a vegan, I want to do it again >_>

If anyone lives in the D.C. area and wants to network, let me know and we can exchange info. I try not to add too many people to Facebook, and mostly people I already know because I don't want to have any friends and then wonder who they are. But I'm fairly active with vegan happenings in D.C. and would love to have an easy way to invite you to any events I organize if you're in the area.

I'm new here but I'd love to meet vegans in my area or just in general I kinda dont like social networking sites....but it seems like the only way to keep in touch and meet new people these days. Man i liked myspace so much more because it has tons of media stuff like music, videos etc. But everyone has flocked to facebook so i had to join that as well

I quite like the look of vegppl, rather more than Volentia actually :/

Have joined up anyway, I always enjoy filling in forms, especially on a slow day!

I've just made a facebook page for my cruelty free website SaveAScream.com - which I'll use just for vegan/animal rights things and SaveAScream updates. If anyone wants another 'friend' I'd love you to send Save A Scream an add request (esp as I have hardly any friends on there at the mo and feel like Billy No Mates, ). Go to:

to send me an add request.

    Hiya, Joined

You should put this in a different part of the forum than 'companion animals' - maybe the members forum?

edit: thread has now been moved!

Phishing scam warning: if you get one of these "facebook password reset" messages just delete it without opening the attachment. I've had about 15 already today!
