    Question Potato Milk

A friend of mine, who has a son with several allergies sent me a recipe for whipped cream made using potato milk.

So I was wondering if anyone liked or has tried potato milk?

Also the recipe uses potato milk but doesnt actually say how to make the potato milk? Am I missing the obvious? I mean do I just whizz up mashed potato and water in a blender?

I can't imaging making milk out of potatoes. Aren't they poisonous when uncooked? And how shall you make it out of cooked ones ?_?

    Sorry I can't help you...

There's a potato milk on the market in the US by a company called Tayo - there was a load of spam about it a while ago on another board I go on, but I have to confess I checked out the site and it did look quite interesting.

I can't imagine that potato milk is a very good source of protein and minerals, like the way soy and almond milks are. But I guess if someone's allergic to everything...
Maybe it is like when you boil potatos and have that leftover starchy water, except it's thicker?

I have found the site for Tayo and it does look very interesting but I have never seen it for sale in the UK.

I asked my friend (the one that sent me the recipe) what brand of potato milk she uses and she says its called Darifree. Its made from a powder, contains lots of vitamins and is protein free for protein restricted diets.

At Bristol vegan festival I asked someone to do with raw foods about potatoes because in a demonstration they said they eat them raw and I also thought they were poisonous. Apparantly (according to them) only the green parts have narcotic properties?
