and with some of the Newman O's that Jamboxrocks very kindly sent me I made a Cookies and Cream Cake (also made Cookies and Cream Icecream but haven't eaten any of that yet so no pics)

I forgot I sent you those! Glad you put them to excellent use. I haven't used the candies you sent yet, hopefully sometime soon.

I finally have my own kitchen and internet, so I should be back full force. I unpacked my cookbooks today, so exciting! Some stuff from the past couple weeks...

First meals in my new house. The first night I ran to Trader Joe's and bought some quicky food - green curry w/ unchicken strips, cauliflower, carrot & spinach over brown rice.



We found presents in the back yard...





So I made chunky tomato sauce over wheat rotini



and greens.

I love it too. Especially the one on the left with half his head up like he's trying to hide. Do your cats like the food? I know they're suppose to be carnivores but I've seen cats eat weird non-meat things before...

I'm glad you think they are cute, I think they are too. The tortie, Myena, on the right in the pic LOVES fruit and veg incl. mangoes, papaya, rockmelon, baby spinach, broccoli, lettuce. The tabby, Maya, on the left is just starting to like baby spinach and lettuce. They both get fed vegan cat food too. My omni bf occasionally gives them cheese & chicken.

I did frozen yoghurt today - just strawberry flavour Provamel straight into the maker. turned out far better! Not perfect yet, though.

Next time, mint choc chip, and it'd better be good enough to warrant pics on here!

Gimme Lean burger w/ all the fixins, quickie coleslaw



mashed sweet potato & yams w/ sauteed shredded brussels sprouts and mesquite maple walnuts



roasted pears & brussels sprouts w/ tempeh sausage, mashed purple potatoes & miso cashew gravy

Ice cream failed again. Tastes brilliant, but had the consistency of water ice. Next time i'll use a tofu-based recipe.

wondering if you have the same machine as me bryzee - thick mix - not tofu mind but only freezes the immediate area next to the freezer disc - that then acts like a blanket and the rest doesn't freeze - was thinking of trying to defrost the very outer layer of the disc to see if that would work. Perhaps run it under the tap for a mo.

Viennese Swirls

normal with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam



and chocolate with vanilla buttercream and chocolate spread

NOW!

[Poison Ivy]

4oz margarine (I used the sunflower pure)
1oz icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
5oz flour

Cream margarine, essence and icing sugar together, add flour, beat to a stiff dough. Pipe onto a lighltly greased baking sheet, bake at gas 4 for about 18 mins.

For the chocolate ones I added about a dsp cocoa and a tsp water to half the above quantity.

It made 12 swirls, so you get 6 sandwiches. Double (obviously) to get more 'cause they're quite small (and very 'short' - so they're a bit fragile but they do melt in your mouth)

Oh, and when piping out they can be a bit faffy as the dough is so stiff but I wouldn't add any extra liquid otherwise you might lose the 'shortness' when baked!

The buttercream was just a bog standard vanilla buttercream with a splash of soy milk to make it 'soft'.
