Women are like teabags. We don't know our true strength until we are in hot water!
You should have told them after!

I forgot I sent you those! Glad you put them to excellent use. I haven't used the candies you sent yet, hopefully sometime soon.
I finally have my own kitchen and internet, so I should be back full force. I unpacked my cookbooks today, so exciting! Some stuff from the past couple weeks...
Roasted garlic, carrot and butternut squash soup with caramelized onions
Roasted brussels sprouts
Miso udon & orange-sesame tofu

At World Vegetarian Fest last weekend:
Taquito, beans & hot avocado salsa
Ice cream from Maggie Mudd - some sort of rum flavor on top, and vanilla w/ chocolate & pb on the bottom
Brownie & cupcakes from Sugar Beat Sweets

First meals in my new house. The first night I ran to Trader Joe's and bought some quicky food - green curry w/ unchicken strips, cauliflower, carrot & spinach over brown rice.
We found presents in the back yard...
So I made chunky tomato sauce over wheat rotini
and greens.

That soup looks gorgeous jambo!
I think it's really funny how you say you're *going* to be back full force and then casually produce some piccies of food done in adverse circumstances that look better than food I've seen in restaurants!
Erin I love the soup and the chunky tomato sauce. And you got to try Sugar Beat Treat cupcakes, lucky gal!
Fry's Schnitzel & crunchy fries
Tempeh Wingz w/ spicy tomato relish, salad and mushies

You gotta love snitzels! Did you know you can cook them in the toaster now?
The taste of anything in my mouth for 5 seconds does not equate to the beauty and complexity of life.
Oh god, the food on here is sooooooooooo gorgeous looking.
If i keep a green bough in my heart my singing bird will come.
I love it too. Especially the one on the left with half his head up like he's trying to hide. Do your cats like the food? I know they're suppose to be carnivores but I've seen cats eat weird non-meat things before...

I'm glad you think they are cute, I think they are too. The tortie, Myena, on the right in the pic LOVES fruit and veg incl. mangoes, papaya, rockmelon, baby spinach, broccoli, lettuce. The tabby, Maya, on the left is just starting to like baby spinach and lettuce. They both get fed vegan cat food too. My omni bf occasionally gives them cheese & chicken.

Here's a vegan pizza I had in San Francisco, from Panhandle Pizza.
And here's a piece of Carrot Cake I had from Herbivore.
Can someone PLEASE come cook for me?!? This makes my school salad bar look atrocious. These pictures are so amazing; I'm salivating
Ooh, Roxy both the pizza and the cake look delish!

Nice food pics people!

I did frozen yoghurt today - just strawberry flavour Provamel straight into the maker. turned out far better! Not perfect yet, though.
Next time, mint choc chip, and it'd better be good enough to warrant pics on here!

Each snowflake in an avalanche pleads not guilty.
it will be there on saturday, young sir. No Newman-Os in it though... that experiment didn't work, so I decided they were best enjoyed unadulterated.
Roxy, you were in SF?!? I wish I had known, we could've met up! Dang. I guess I should update my profile so people know where I am...
Here's my eats since last I posted:
scrambled tofu w/ onions, peppers and mushrooms, fronch toast w/ strawberry jam
Gimme Lean burger w/ all the fixins, quickie coleslaw
mashed sweet potato & yams w/ sauteed shredded brussels sprouts and mesquite maple walnuts
roasted pears & brussels sprouts w/ tempeh sausage, mashed purple potatoes & miso cashew gravy
bonus: a "winged gourd" I bought for decoration
veganhomemade.wordpress.com
Oh, I want your food jambox! Awesome gourd.
Ice cream failed again. Tastes brilliant, but had the consistency of water ice. Next time i'll use a tofu-based recipe.
wondering if you have the same machine as me bryzee - thick mix - not tofu mind but only freezes the immediate area next to the freezer disc - that then acts like a blanket and the rest doesn't freeze - was thinking of trying to defrost the very outer layer of the disc to see if that would work. Perhaps run it under the tap for a mo.

from the description it doesn't sound like mine. Which model do you have?
Viennese Swirls
normal with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam
and chocolate with vanilla buttercream and chocolate spread
Blackadder: Baldrick, have you no idea what irony is?
Baldrick: Yes, it's like goldy and bronzy only it's made out of iron.
oh my...
recipe!
NOW!
4oz margarine (I used the sunflower pure)
1oz icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
5oz flour
Cream margarine, essence and icing sugar together, add flour, beat to a stiff dough. Pipe onto a lighltly greased baking sheet, bake at gas 4 for about 18 mins.
For the chocolate ones I added about a dsp cocoa and a tsp water to half the above quantity.
It made 12 swirls, so you get 6 sandwiches. Double (obviously) to get more 'cause they're quite small (and very 'short' - so they're a bit fragile but they do melt in your mouth)
Oh, and when piping out they can be a bit faffy as the dough is so stiff but I wouldn't add any extra liquid otherwise you might lose the 'shortness' when baked!
The buttercream was just a bog standard vanilla buttercream with a splash of soy milk to make it 'soft'.
Enjoy...and post piccies too!

Yes, definitely let me know if you come back. It would be cool to meet up. I'm in San Leandro which is in the East Bay, but it's close enough to SF.
Poison Ivy, I've never heard of those swirly things before. They look awesomely sweet though!

Mmm I love the burger, Jambox and the Viennese swirls, PI!
cupcakekitteh.blogspot.com
