well i do agree, Mr F, but personally i don't believe in paying for anything i can do myself so my entire wedding was homemade, apart from my dress which cost £20!.

I can't believe you wasted £20 on a dress when you could have made your own from some clothes in your existing wardrobe!

At branches of bodycare nationwide, and also Watt Bros in Glasgow, there's Technic and Body Collection cosmetics- the ones the now sadly closed Dr Hadwen Trust's shop sold- available from 99p! I picked up some highlighting cream, lengthening mascara and eye shimmer pencils. Do check the ingredients before buying, because although Dr Hadwen's only ever sold the vegan products from this range, some items, like the kohl pencil, do contain beeswax.
It is a monstrous thing to do, to slay a unicorn...you have slain something pure and defenceless and you will have but a half life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips.
i really like the Technic highlighter, it's great. unfortunately i don't know of any Bodycare shops in my area (i've never heard of them).

Does anyone have a list of vegan friendly & non animal tested cosmetics? I've not heard of Technic before!

if anyone has one of those funny QD cheapo shops near them, they have jute shopper bags for £1!! - they are quite roomy too.
Controversial Green & Blacks chocolate bars (http://www.veganforum.com/forums/sho...t=green+blacks) at ASDA - 50p each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess they're getting rid of them before the labelling all changes? Either way, 50p, bargain! I got the ginger, cherry, and dark 70% bars. The maya gold labelling has changed actually, and although i believe the ingredients are EXACTLY the same as they used to be when it was labelled vegan, i just can't bring myself to buy chocolate that has MILK in the ingredients list :P
Loads of different Redwoods stuff is in Asda, including vegi deli beef and chicken slices for just £1
The only normal people are the ones you don't know very well
I need to start going to Asda I think. That's good value.
not going back to asda while they are offering halal dead bodies of animals - bastards
even perfect isn't perfect - Rubyduby 4th July 08
I am over boycotting places now, it was getting too confusing and they sell meat in all the supermarkets anyway.
halal is different - the animal has its throat slit whilst it is conscious - vile - as to where we shop - each to their own conscience eh?
even perfect isn't perfect - Rubyduby 4th July 08
I think most ways people kill animals for meat are vile and I'm sure lots of animals aren't stunned beforehand to provide the meat in any supermarket but yes exactly people can choose where to shop and decide if they think it is ethical. I did boycott Asda because of the Walmart connection. I don't know how anyone manages to boycott companies in a consistent way though, it seems too complicated for me.
*off topic*
**off-topic warning!!*
i have been reading up on halal and it seems it could even be slightly more 'efficient' than the great british methods of killing defenceless animals for the greed of mankind, it's just that the british believe they are so caring, their way must be right
i am over boycotting, too, BC, it became illogical for me
asda next for me then.
Regarding this halal business, I don't see how halal is less or more worse than non-halal meat. Tesco also does Halal meat now. And actually if you think about it, in halal all animals are slaughtered by hand and are not allowed to see the blade before hand, because of this it is less intensive than the slaughter house. I don't think this is a good enough reason to boycott them, it's all murder anyway, one method isn't better than another since death will always take place.
And that meat isn't actually halal as Asda has confirmed that their halal meat is stunned in the first place (with the exception of chickens), which results in the blood not being drained properly, making it not halal as the consumption of blood is prohibited and also the animal must be FULLY concious before slaughtered according to the rules of dhabiha (halal slaughter).
As I always say:
"Still dead, innit."
Hemlock started a thread on ASDA and halal, so perhaps it would be diplomatic to continue there
http://www.veganforum.com/forums/sho...ighlight=halal
See my local diary ... http://herbwormwood.blogspot.com/
my asda never has any redwoods vegan stuff like that, cheeze, meats, nothing...
Superdrug has original source shower gels and bath "milks" on offer at the moment 95p each - bargain!! Needless to say I bought about 6 ...lol
(Nb: bumped the Halal thread, it is in 'Animals and Animal Products' if anyone wants to discuss that there)
Teh Evul Sco (OMGELEVENTYONE!) (sorry, can't resist) are selling pods of peas at two large bags for three quid. Nobody come to my house this week if you don't like peas...
