I can't believe you wasted £20 on a dress when you could have made your own from some clothes in your existing wardrobe!

btw, tomatoes seem at sainsburý´s always at 60p (basics) which are also uk-grown, not from holland like the ones at tesco are at offer. i woudn´t buy fruit or veg from holland.

AND at sainsbury´s they also offer strawberries at 49p (baics) at the moment, also uk-grown!

At branches of bodycare nationwide, and also Watt Bros in Glasgow, there's Technic and Body Collection cosmetics- the ones the now sadly closed Dr Hadwen Trust's shop sold- available from 99p! I picked up some highlighting cream, lengthening mascara and eye shimmer pencils. Do check the ingredients before buying, because although Dr Hadwen's only ever sold the vegan products from this range, some items, like the kohl pencil, do contain beeswax.

Controversial Green & Blacks chocolate bars (http://www.veganforum.com/forums/sho...t=green+blacks) at ASDA - 50p each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess they're getting rid of them before the labelling all changes? Either way, 50p, bargain! I got the ginger, cherry, and dark 70% bars. The maya gold labelling has changed actually, and although i believe the ingredients are EXACTLY the same as they used to be when it was labelled vegan, i just can't bring myself to buy chocolate that has MILK in the ingredients list :P

halal is different - the animal has its throat slit whilst it is conscious - vile - as to where we shop - each to their own conscience eh?

I think most ways people kill animals for meat are vile and I'm sure lots of animals aren't stunned beforehand to provide the meat in any supermarket but yes exactly people can choose where to shop and decide if they think it is ethical. I did boycott Asda because of the Walmart connection. I don't know how anyone manages to boycott companies in a consistent way though, it seems too complicated for me.

i have been reading up on halal and it seems it could even be slightly more 'efficient' than the great british methods of killing defenceless animals for the greed of mankind, it's just that the british believe they are so caring, their way must be right
i am over boycotting, too, BC, it became illogical for me

Regarding this halal business, I don't see how halal is less or more worse than non-halal meat. Tesco also does Halal meat now. And actually if you think about it, in halal all animals are slaughtered by hand and are not allowed to see the blade before hand, because of this it is less intensive than the slaughter house. I don't think this is a good enough reason to boycott them, it's all murder anyway, one method isn't better than another since death will always take place.
And that meat isn't actually halal as Asda has confirmed that their halal meat is stunned in the first place (with the exception of chickens), which results in the blood not being drained properly, making it not halal as the consumption of blood is prohibited and also the animal must be FULLY concious before slaughtered according to the rules of dhabiha (halal slaughter).

That's pretty unusual and bears further investigation (I think it's more likely they've just coded it wrong). Shame there doesn't seem to be an obvious ingredients list.
