Yes, the chilli almonds little black bags bag are labelled vegan but described as milk chocolates truffles in a box . . . It seems to have the wrong description but on looking at the bigger bag and tins of these none are labelled vegan so the vegan label appears to be an error. I highly doubt the white chocolate is vegan.

Sadly no - just got this back from them:

have just checked with our product developer and unfortunately no, it’s not suitable for vegans. Thank you so much for pointing this out to us, the web site has just been launched and we are still ironing out a few bits and pieces. I’m really sorry about the disappointment. All our dark chocolate bars and the dark chocolate almonds are suitable for vegans if it’s any consolation!

The Little black bag is available in four varieties (Strawberrettes, Orangettes, Dark Chocolate Almond and Chilli Almonds) Kshocolat cannot specify which Little Back Bag flavour will be sent

Some of their dark choc ingredients lists say lecithin, and others say soya lecithin. I don't know whether it's just an inconsistency or if some of their lecithin really is of animal origin (though this is apparently rare now).

The dark choc orangettes say "lecithin", whereas the almond ones say "soya lecithin". Now I'm worried in case that's why they say the almond ones are suitable for vegans and don't mention the orangettes. (Strawberry and chilli almond are in milk choc, so definitely out... I think both those would taste better in dark choc anyway!)

I'm going to email them to ask about the lecithin.

They have replied and confirmed that all their lecithin is soya, and that the orangettes are definitely suitable for vegans

Alpro Soya desserts (choc, vanilla, caramel) are on 2 for £2 in Sainsburys (in packs of 4).

Guardian - Free Starbucks coffee every Friday - Newspaper based voucher

Every Friday for the rest of the month, the Guardian (80p) comes with a voucher for a free Starbucks. It can be any coffee, any size, so, for example, you could get a large Caramel Macchiato, worth £3.30, for just 80p.

The voucher is good for any 'espresso based beverage' and is valid only for the Friday it's issued. You can choose which size you want, small (tall), medium (grande) or large (venti). The Guardian will be running this Starbucks offer every Friday until 24 October 08, so the rest of this month could be filled with free coffee Fridays!

I got mine this morning....the Chilli Almonds in Milk Chocolate, so I had to give them away...but the person I gave them too said they were nice but surprisingly spicy!

I received mine this morning. I got the orangettes in dark chocolate, which they confirmed were suitable for vegans.

The ingredients list was totally vegan.

Then, in the style of G&B, underneath the ingredients list it said, "Contains soya and milk protein."

Underneath that, it had the standard warning about being produced in a factory that handles nuts and cereals that contain gluten and eggs, which is fine.

So I gave them to my friend (who thought they tasted fab).

As with G&B choc, I'm not going to buy or eat products that say they CONTAIN something non-vegan even if isn't a listed ingredient. Maybe they just don't clean equipment thoroughly in between milk and dark choc runs, but either way it sends out a mixed message about what vegans will choose to eat. No thanks.

Haven't got mine yet. Damn shame though, if they're going to put "contains milk" on the packet even if it doesn't - but I can't be doing with stuff that even the manufacturers don't know if it's got milk in or not.

On a positive note the 'Big Aple' greengrocers in town by me had Organica vegan dark choc with hazlenuts in - 59p a bar or 2 for £1 well impressed fair trade too. Must get more next week use by date end Nov.

There are some special deals in Holland and Barrett at the moment - our local one anyway. IIRC it was "buy one, get one half price" on some Linda McCartney and Tofutti stuff - possibly other things as well.

Sorry to be vague but probably worth a look if you're passing an H&B.

Why not see if the little boys - your local independents - have loyalty schemes that reward all you as a regular purchaser or for your environmental concern. A good example would be McConnell Thomas in Hovingham & Kirkby Moorside (I have no connection with the business!) & don't encourage th eover consumption that BOGOFS do. Just a gentle plea.

I bought a load of hemp seeds from Asda. 30p a bag reduced from nearly £2.
I'm not surprised they didn't sell. They're not shelled and the locals round here think that healthy eating means having eating a chicken burger instead of a beefburger.

Gonna grind them up and add them to stuff.

I always check the knick knach sh*ty cr*p (reduced section) stuff for the best bargins. Four fajita mixes for 84p tonight. I've had omega seed butter and tahini from Morrisons. The BOGOF's are usually rubbish as it is nearly always omni stuff, they know vegans can only buy at limited places so don't see the need to attract us with many offers Though it is getting better. Sainsburys occassionally do a 3 4 2 on tofu so we clear them out when they do.

What ingredient isnt vegan Bryzee? Is it curcumin? I thought that came from tumeric. Ive now seen lactic acid but if thats the hidden s**t then how come they get away with "DAIRY FREE" in big letters on the tub lid (law suit coming up)!!!

I believe the vitamin D in it is derived from sheep's wool which, considering wool does not come from a cow's udder, means it is dairy free, but not vegan.

I was going to come on here and tell you all about a voucher I got for Grassington's new "Gardein" range (all vegan! finally my heart won't have to automatically sink when I see there's only Grassington's stuff in the vegetarian section because there might be something beside beanburgers, if I'm lucky, in it. Actually, I can't remember the last time I saw Grassington beanburgers, it's nearly always the non vegan stuff...but I digress...).

Anyway, I've just checked my voucher, which I saved from an ad on Facebook (finally something USEFUL on a Facebook ad, rather than invitations to learn how to hypnotise all my friends or lose 20lb in five minutes with Oprah's new acai berry wonder diet), but the bloody thing ran out yesterday!

So, sorry to be longwinded, but if anyone else spots an ad for Grassingtons on Facebook it is worth checking out. And please can you post the link here?

I just looked up Gardein. They made the ASDA chicken style fillets as well. I thought those were better than the grassingtons version. More versatile, being plain.
