Wow! Some great recipes here - great link, thank you.
The Hare Krishna movement briefly overlapped with the Straight Edge movement in the nineties, and frontman of the bands Youth of Today and Shelter, Ray Cappo, became a Yogi and a raw vegan. While I'm not ready to make the step to Raw yet, I have to ask if Raw Veganism is very common in Hare Krishna?
Raw veganism is NOT very common in the Hare Krishnas.
All my favorites contain ghee. Sure, I could substitute some oil for home, but I'm bummed that eating at restaurants is difficult.
Thanks for the link though. I wonder if vegan margarine or vegetable oil would be a good substitute?
They sell "vegetable ghee" here but I think it may be hydrogenated I just use oil instead of the butter in Indian recipes and it tastes fine (to me).
