Hello!
I am planning a move to Sydney, Australia this upcoming January.
I am a die-hard vegan evangelist in the states- I have thrilling facts and figures that I can rattle off at a moment's notice when people ask me about veganism in America. Yet, a lot of my statistics in terms of environmentalism and animal cruelty are based on the American meat industry and what it's doing to American animals and the American environment.
Now, that I'm going to be an Aussie- (I'll be going to school there for the next three years...and perhaps making it a lifelong stay...) I want to be up on AUSTRALIAN statistics and data. Are there any good books on veganism and how it relates to the environment and animal cruelty, ethics, etc in Australia?
My favorite "Go vegan!" book is "Mad Cowboy" by Howard Lyman- it has it all- it focuses on health, environmentalism, animal cruelty ethics, etc. It even focuses on politics and how the American political machine keeps omnivores happy. Does anyone have any suggestions for vegan books that focus on Australia?
My boyfriend is very involved in local politics- he is a mayor of a suburb of Sydney and works for a member of Parliament. I get to meet a lot of important people and I definitely think that I have the opportunity to expose lots of new people to veganism and what it's all about.
I could use tips! Thanks so much!
